2  A "Just Because" Card in Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General by vtgirl on: October 31, 2007 07:28:33 AM
I sent my brother in NYC some chaulk and oil pastels, charcol and a sketch book to try and get his creative juices flowing once again.  He really is a phenominal artist...  I also decided to make a cute little card to include in the box as well.

I love finding crazy books from the 50's to use...

Thanks!
Happy Halloween  Smiley

3  Re: Joining the Saartje Bootie Bandwagon in Knitting: Completed Projects by vtgirl on: October 31, 2007 07:15:30 AM
Rather than start a new topic I decided to add my booties to the bandwagon.  I haven't been as active on craftster lately due to a move and the start of grad school.  These little booties were just what I needed to get back in the swing of things.

This pair are for my step sisters new little girl Lakiya:

And my sister-in-law just had a new baby boy Alexander:
I fell in love with the little fishy buttons...

He gets two pair:

Thanks!
Happy Halloween  Smiley

4  Re: Reading Rainbow Book/Craft Swap Gallery in The Swap Gallery by vtgirl on: March 16, 2007 06:49:13 PM
Okay, I'm a really big slacker.  That and I HATE resizing pics.  Here is the awesome package that StarFire sent me:

A shot of all the loot together

The kick ass bracelet that I've worn several times now.  I love the little dragon charm

FOUR BOOKMARKS!!!!! With great pinup girl pics and nice book/reading related quotes

This is probably my favorite it says, "She is too fond of books, and it has turned her brain." ~Louisa May Alcott

These are the results of a crafting mishap.  I'm still tickled pink that I get the iron on transfers!!  In case you can't read backwards the print says, "She blinded me with Library Science!!"  I love it!  AND... I just got accepted to the graduate program in library science at Simmons College in Boston!  My swap package was good luck I tell you!  Grin

The pinup is from my MySpace page.  Such a good swap stalker  Cheesy

I love EVERYTHING!  I really hope my package wasn't a disappointment.  I think I actually got more into what book I was going to send than the craft  Undecided  I'm hopeless...  I just realized that I forgot to take close ups of the cool pin cushion and book journal.  They are very cool and not to be overlooked  Wink
Thanks again StarFire!  And thanks for organizing ghostgirl!

WooHoo! I got my package from Yamwam today! It rocks!

Give me a bit and I'll post pics.

So, I was going to wait until tomorrow and take pics in the natural light but then I remembered I was having surgery in the morning (I'm still in denial) and probably won't feel like it  Roll Eyes   So here is the best I could do at night in my poorly lit house.

The cutest little matchbox stash box!!!!!!  Grin

Complete with sparkly stash!!

It's a really nice purple color in real life which I love. Thanks again Yamwam!

6  A whole mess load of firsts! in Knitting: Completed Projects by vtgirl on: January 12, 2007 09:37:14 PM
Well, I did a lot of things I've never done before with this project.  It's not a complicated project but I'm still a novice knitter (though I think I'm learning at a good clip).

1. it was my first time knitting in the round

2. it was my first time changing colors

3. it was my first time using dpn's
and..
4. it was my first time picking up stitches.

I'm pretty damn proud of myself personally  Wink  It's a present for my friend who is a browncoat.  I've never seen the show or the movie personally but she's told me aaalllll about it  Roll Eyes  so I know she'll get a kick out of this.  And she's going to need a good hat since she's marrying a Brit and moving to England!

I had to use 3 different yarns to get the colors I wanted.  The orange is Lion Brand 100% wool, the yellow is crappy acrylic and the red is Red Heart Soft.  I DO NOT recommend Red Heart Soft.  It was HORRIBLE to knit with, splits-ville city I tell you.  But it is soft.

Sorry for the ramble, here's the pic.  My lovely and goofy-ass husband is modeling.  Even our cat thinks he's a doof  Grin

I used the tute from here http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=19076.0

Thanks for looking!!

7  Re: Largest Craftster ATC swap GALLERY in The Swap Gallery by vtgirl on: November 13, 2006 02:19:19 PM
Whew!  My scanning and picture sizing skills need some brushing up!  Finally I have the picture of the ATC Selise sent me  Smiley

I do counted cross stitch as one of my crafts so she used that as the theme.

Thanks Selise!

Love the t-shirts!!!!  I'm going to be working on those stenciling skills of mine once school is over.

I'm a slacker.  Here are my fantabulous swap items from Millik  Grin  I love all of them!!!!

Here's a shot of everything on my butt ugly dorm room couch.

Here is a blurry shot of the most excellent bag and hand made blank book.  The bag is made from a work shirt and the straps from a belt!!!  Do you recognize who's on the pocket ?  Grin  The blank book has an awesome Nancy Drew pic on the front.

These are the fantastic cloth pads she made me!!!!  I'm so happy to finally be going cloth.

She also sent a zine about alternative menstruation products, an article about the Wonder Woman comic, and some Goddess tattoos!  w00t!!

Two copies of Bitch magazine that I'd never heard of before now.

The yummiest candy ever (German?).  The Happy Hippos are so cool, and delicious  Wink

Millik totally spoiled me and I love it!!!!

9  Re: Pin Cushion Rnd 3 SWAP GALLERY! in The Swap Gallery by vtgirl on: August 15, 2006 08:24:05 AM
Yippee!!!  Gammerus got my pincushion  Grin  She said her camera charger was acting funky so I'll post the pics I have.

She said she really liked sunflowers but was scared of getting something in muted colors.  She really likes BRIGHT colors, so here's what I came up with ...

All the petals and the leaves are stuffed too so the whole thing can be used as a pincushion, not just the middle.  I also made little sunflower shrinky dink pins to match   Cheesy  (they are really hard to get a pic of)

I also made a matching thimble in the Japanese style, which I really like better than the metal ones.

I'm so glad you liked it!  I had a really good time making it and this swap really inspired me!

10  Re: Share your Mess...Then let's clean it up! in Interior Decorating: Discussion and Questions by vtgirl on: August 05, 2006 08:10:05 PM
So, in a weird way this makes me feel better.  I'm not the only one who creates surrounded by mess  Grin

I keep telling myself that my excuse is that we just moved...at the end of May....not really an excuse anymore.  Undecided

So, here's my craft room.  I do share it with my husband, but right now he's building/crafting another kayak so that's being done outside. (yup, that means the mess is all mine  Wink )

I seriously think one of my problems is shelving and storage for everything.  Stuff like that can get expensive so I've been scouring the thrift stores and such but I still have to buy one piece at a time.

This thread is motivated me to clean up a little more  Wink
