I was window shopping online the other day for gift ideas and came across a scarf at ModCloth for $49.99... which I thought was a bit expensive. After taking a second glance, I figured I could easily make one for a fraction of the cost to send to my bestie in Chicago.

It took me about 3 hours to finish the whole project... The flower turned out a bit smaller than I wanted... I should've added another round of petals but I've never crocheted a flower before so it was a learning experience... The flower, just like the one at ModCloth, is a detachable barrette so it can be taken off or worn in the hair. I might even make a set of flowers for her to change the color of it once in a while or wear a couple on it at a time since they turned out smaller.

I've been reading Craftster's forums for a long time, but I've never posted any of my projects... I never thought any of my "projects" were "crafty" enough, until I made these shoes yesterday.  I've been sick and laying around in bed all day gets kind of boring so I got inspired to make these shoes from a shirt I have with two birds flying away from a telephone pole.  I don't know why but for some reason, I have an affinity for bird silhouettes.  Anyway, my feet will only get to show these off in small-town Kansas and I wanted to share them.

I bought these shoes at Alco for about $5.37.

Printed out a design I created in Paint Shop Pro.

I traced the designs on the paper with a chalk fabric pencil and then pressed the chalking onto the shoes.

And then I painted them in with a fine line fabric paint brush and white fabric paint.

I wanted to put stripes down the side, as if the birds were in flight, but I think I'm going to add little red hearts on the lines.

I told my friend I made these last night and he thought I bought them off of eBay.

What do you think?  I want to do another pair with some cherries... I'm quite fond of cherries too...
