1  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Pattern for a Teen Age Boy's Sweater? on: July 25, 2007 01:16:31 PM
i need a really great basic sweater pattern for a teenage boy who is going to school in connecticut.  i've kettle-dyed some bulky merino wool in colors he picked and the patterning on the swatch is so nice that i really just want a simple, basic pullover, maybe a raglan.  he's 14, but very small, maybe more like a 12 year old, and i'm looking for a nice, comfy, keep me warm kind of pattern.  any ideas for me?
2  FIBER ARTS / Dyeing: Completed Projects / dyed & handpainted fabric with directions on: June 19, 2007 10:30:30 PM

this is fabric that i first crackle dyed and then stamped/painted on.  i like doing different designs in the same palette so the fabric all coordinates for use.

i don't have a full blown tutorial yet, but there are directions for the basics of how to proceed & also a link to my crackle dye tutorial on my blog along with more pictures.  http://joycevance.typepad.com/joyce_makes_art/2007/06/fabric_painting.html

please let me know if you have any suggestions on the directions as i would like to do a good tutorial on this for people new to stamping on fabric.
3  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / She-Mootah. More Zakke on: June 16, 2007 06:10:37 PM
Somehow, I have managed to make my kids as Zakka obsessed as I am.  My daughter really liked my sons Mootah, so I had to come up with a She-Mootah for her.

This one is done using my hand-dyed and handpainted fabrics, but I've just scored some japanese fabrics and some new kaffe fasset, so I think I may have to make a couple more.  The details are on my blog if anyone is interested.
4  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Strange Stuffed Cat Influenced by Miyazaki/Anime/Zakka on: May 30, 2007 11:03:51 PM
i don't really sew, but we love Miyazaki's The Cat Returns, and since we have a big fat Mootah Cat of our own, I had to make a stuffed one.

This may actually cause me to learn how to sew the right way so i can make a few more.
5  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Altered Knits Felted Market Bag on: May 27, 2007 07:34:57 AM
I just finished a slightly modified version of the felted Market Bag from Alterknits.  It was a great pattern, and easy knit, and something I'm going to use a lot.

There are a few more photos on my blog.  The bag is knit mostly from Peace Fleece (that wonderful Sheplova Mushroom color, that I seem to use for everything!)
6  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / Art Journal Round Robin on: May 19, 2007 09:27:47 PM
i just finished up a year long artist's journal round robin.

the outside was a plain felted cover.

the art all spills out once you open in, and the felt inside is decorated with mohair locks and crystals and bells.

and have photographed the art and put it up on my blog if you want to take a look.

there were some amazing artists in the round robin and it has everything from felt to painting to quilting to collage.  There are photos of each individual piece on my blog.

8  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Jitterbug Socks on: March 26, 2007 06:23:35 PM
I am hearting this yarn in a big way.  Colinette's new jitterbug sock yarn.

9  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / what should i make with handmaiden silk ribbon yarn? on: March 16, 2007 03:43:43 PM
i have 3 skeins coming.  i have no idea what to do with it.

i also have 5 skeins of makalu bamboo ribbon yarn that i dyed a very soft sage green and set aside for myself.  i could redye them to go with the silk ribbon (it's the mermaid colorway) and mix them together?

don't know.  just thinking.

what would you do?
10  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Pictures of Recently Completed Items! on: March 09, 2007 07:55:48 PM
Clapotis

Shrug
This has actually been finished for awhile, but i never got a good picture of it.

Sock in Progress
I'm in LOVE with this colorway.  Sadly, my daughter is too so i have a bad feeling this pair isn't going to be for me.
