Ok, so I sheepishly add my project here even though it's really not terribly creative considering the other amazing entries here. Thought I'd add it anyway as a source of inspiration maybe?

6 foot length of copper plumbing - $3.00
2 hooks - $0.50 each =                $1.00
end caps - $0.30 each=                $0.60
total:                                         $4.60

I'd been brainstorming about a nice curtain rod for my kitchen for a while and happened upon a cool looking aged, coppery one in a boutique store once and it was actually a length of copper plumbing!

I borrowed my bro's tube cutter, screwed the hooks into the wall, capped the length of plumbing and hung it up! Now I just need to make a nice curtain! And since I liked that so much I made the same rods for every window in our apt.



note the beautiful orange glint it gives off. Fortunately I declined to polish the rods so they look nice and aged. Please excuse the leftover party decorations!

Yeah!! I had my doubts at first as to whether the pattern would show up given the lumpiness and hairiness of the wool....but I grabbed the biggest needles I own and what do you know?? I just fell in love with the stuff at the craft store and had this pattern in mind for my little brother's girlfriend for xmas.  It's from Knitty.com - god, what a great site huh? anyway, here are the pics,




The best part about using that kind of wool is that it's soooo forgiving. I made the mistake of pulling it out while the kiddos where still conscious and screwed up so badly in parts...but really,you have to really look to even notice it. Couldn't possibly tell while you're wearing it.

So I have had a real crap week of being as sick as a dog.  And all I have done is couch surf and cough all over my crafts, and then friday I get the best damn thing a girl could get! And then- I opened up the most amazing apron -in-the-world!!! Check. it. out!

My dino-cam doesn't pick up all the wonderful details - like the front pocket with divided sections- for pencils/pens or wooden spoons.., and the awesome red on black japanese fabric, as well as  the BETTY PAGE patch!!!! I had a hard time wearing it to cook last night because it's the nicest thing i own. lol! 
AND That's not all!!! Angelbum also made an additional set of wicked oven mitts with Ms. Page on them too!!! WOW!!!

So this is my xmas present for my 17 yr old sister. After loosing the fight to cut up an old pair of hubbys jeans (silly man, they don't even fit him anymore) I sacrificed an unflattering jean skirt and then pilfered an old shirt of hubbys for the lining...don't tell him ok?  what?!!...it had a HOLE in it I swear!!

I can't decide whether to go with the short more sophisticated strap or the long across your body a la messenger bag style. I can't decide about emellishments either. Part of me wants to go with gymnastic themed iron ons for the back (she's a coach), another part wants to go with black iron on embroidery or something and another part is screaming to put groucho marx eyebrows above the pocket buttons to complete the angry purse look HAHA!

Anyway, here are the pics.

So I made this for my Great Aunt's 80th birthday. I put out the request to the whole family to send me letters and funny/memorable stories of our aunt and any pictures to go with them and I put them all together in this simple but elegant layout. I was incredibly rushed... did 16 pages in 2 days (and nights) but it came out so well. I did it digitally, printed them out on photo paper and found an album just  the right size to put one one each page. She loved it!

Heh, so this quilt I finished as a christmas present last year. I made 2 more like it for my neice's. These only took me a year and a half to finish!! HAHA! anyway, I hope the pictures are big enough.

This place rocks! I had no idea I wanted to sew purses until I came here looking for a zipper tutorial and boy the wealth of information and inspiration is just incredible!!

2 purses, the blue one is a birthday present for a good friend of mine...I keep thinking it needs something more, but I haven't figured anything out yet...any ideas?? It has a zip pocket and a magnetic snap closure.

This green/orange purse is one I made for my mom for her birthday. I knew I had to get really detailed with cc pockets and such if I wanted her to actually use it so... It has 2 interior pockets and a zip pocket, the outer zipped section has a bunch of cc pockets, a cell phone pocket and a slit pocket with a button (added later)

Phew, that was a hard one and the zip compartment turned out crooked as I was totally rushing to finish it in time.
