1  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: Hedwig Stuffed Owl From HARRY POTTER! on: September 30, 2007 02:21:43 PM
Hi!

Hedwig is very cute!

I was actually just trying this pattern myself an am left a bit confused now that I'm trying to put the pieces together...

Did you have any issues with sewing the base onto the body?  I'm a bit unsure of how I'm supposed to sew this piece which is 24 stitches wide at it's widest and 16 stitches on the CO and BO edges to a hole that is only 16 stitches around in total.  My base piece is waaayyy too big for the size of the edge I'm supposed to attach it to!  I guess I can just make a new base piece but he'll be kind of pointy on the bottom I think...

Just curious if anyone else had any issues with this...

I have some pin-up girl fabric from reprot depot that this bag would be perfect to make with!!  But I just checked the mccall's site and the pattern is out of print!  I guess this means I'll have to get it on ebay and soon?

Thanks so much for posting this!  It's very exciting!  I'm also hoping to have enough left over to make myself a lunch bag with this fabric too Wink

I'm also curious about how to attach the findings...

Very pretty!  I love the design.

I'm far from experienced with making jewellery and haven't touched a shrinky dink since i was a kid (oh 20 some odd years ago) so I have a couple questions that may be pretty basic...

What did you use to edge the pendants in silver?  And was this made with just basic shrinky dink stuff - the same stuff I would have used as a kid?

Has anybody had any luck recently finding the bookcase insert?  I have noticed it at Ikea for so many years but I was just looking on the website and now I can't find it anywhere.  Why do they discontinue such great stuff?!  I'm about to venture back to school after a 6+ year hiatus and it's time for me to get organized.  My computer area is also supposed to be my craft area but right now it's just a big mess!  I thought that this bookcase setup might be a good start at getting more organized.  Although sadly I don't think the higher case will fit in our basement Sad  Is the insert from the billy line or is it from something else?  I know they sometimes mix and match - like the tall skinny cd case is benno not billy but they always put it with the billy stuff.  I considered that option very briefly but then remembered why I can't use the taller bookcase.

I'm going to look at your pics every day to inspire me to get my crap together in my room!

Hehe no not a good mix at all!  But I guess my lesson was learned!  Next time when I walk away from a project like this I will make sure that I leave it up high somewhere Wink

Nice pumpkin!  I'm very jealous - I have made one attempt so far at needle felting and it just didn't happen.  Then my cat got it.  I haven't had a chance to sit down and attempt it again.

Very well done!

I like the style of the owl bag alot (and the image) but my favourite images are the dressmaker's dummies and the stove!

You stole my cat!

hehe ok... they aren't identical but they are pretty darn close!

We tried to make loki wear a little fireman's hat for hallowe'en last year... he was much less cooperative than your cat!

I'm curious to know what sort of silk screening you did as well.  They look fantastic!  Very nicely done.  I want to get into silk screening but I'm worried it may be expensive and I may not get the same results you are getting!
