2  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Discussion and Questions / repainting tub/shower on: May 07, 2008 06:26:15 PM
So, my apartment has one of those full enclosure situations, where the wall is all plastic with the built in shelves. sadly i can't ask for it to be replaced because the only thing that is wrong with it is that it is this ugly brown color.

has anyone ever repainted such a thing? if it was white it would much better and the bathroom would maybe look a little bigger than it is (perhaps cleaner as well...brown in the bathroom? yuck...haha)

Rustoleum has these.... http://www.rustoleum.com/CBGProduct.asp?pid=116

i'm just wondering if anyone has any experience with this.

thanks
3  Archive of Past Craftster Challenge Entries / CHALLENGE 27 ENTRIES / Vintage Bicycle Basket Wall Sconce on: May 03, 2008 09:16:48 AM
I'm really excited about this even though there are so many really great lights in the challenge already. I have never posted anything but this project inspired me to make something with the things i had on hand (ie in the stacks and stacks of things that i will someday craft into something Smiley)

I bought this lamp a few months ago at a thrift store for $1
i figured i could just recover it but whenever i did, i didn't seem to like it
how i bought it...

yesterday i was inspired. I didn't take any during pictures but it really took about 10 minutes.

i took the socket and cord out of the original metal frame lamp, this would work with any light with a cord.

i put the light in the center of the basket and surrounded it with sea shell necklaces i had around, so that it stood upright in the middle. I put the cord through the holes in the back of the basket where you would strap it onto a bicycle.

then i decorated the inside with things i would probably have in the basket if it was on my bike....the flowers are actually the first flowers my boyfriend gave me. the feather i found on the street.  and the heart just has no other home Smiley

anyway, here it is. a kind of wall sconce/shadow box and i love it. '

(i'm really sorry for the not great pics, my camera is acting a bit wonky)

4  HOME SWEET HOME / Pet-Related Crafts: Discussion and Questions / Kitty Cardboard Scratcher on: June 01, 2006 02:38:15 PM
My cat misu will only scratch on those carboard scratchers. my boyfriend basically hates them because they are ugly. i hate it cause they cost so much...9-20bucks a pop depending on size, and they barely last.

i've seen amazing stuff made from cardboard....they have a bunch at postmodernpets.com

has anyone ever made anything like this? or would you have any idea how i would do it, withough going insane cutting strips of cardboard?

thanks
5  HOME SWEET HOME / Pet-Related Crafts: Discussion and Questions / Kitty Box "Cover" on: May 01, 2006 06:41:33 PM
We are moving into a new apartment and although we love it, it is admittedly small. Our problem is that we don't have any place to actually "hide" the litter box. I've been looking at boxes stored in plastic planters and those are nice but also $150 and such. The wicker type cover thing is not quite our style.
mostly the house is 50's and 60's ish...not modern per say, but just that style.

there has to be something we can make!!! has anyone done anything neat to cover there box, or does anyone have any neat ideas?

thanks!
6  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions / ikea couch spruce up on: April 25, 2006 09:23:05 AM
There is a couch on craigslist that i might see potential in. i especially like the price.

it's a discontinued one so you can't get the slip covers any more at ikea,. i don't know the name of the series so i can't look on ebay for others.

my boyfriend is convinced it is completely impossible for me to reupolster a couch.

i was thinking i could do something to it...any help?

this is the one in question... http://pittsburgh.craigslist.org/fur/154249588.html

thanks!
