1  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions / Re: How to insert and use the bobbin on your sewing machine! on: September 05, 2009 04:17:36 AM
I've done everything right (I think!) and this keeps happening:

The thread won't latch on and it just gets all tight at the bottom then snaps Sad

Any ideas?
2  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Re: All ideas for T-shirt reconstructions..... on: November 09, 2005 06:16:40 AM
Right, well, I've seen odd resized/funked up T-shirts, but I thought, this time, I'd ask all you guru's what would work FIRST, then do my thing. So, any fairly simple but effective ideas for a dearly loved, slightly expensive band T-shirt I got (mando diao at the roadhouse in manchester, diamond nights as support, THEY ROCKED) Anyway..... It's just a big ol' black t-shirt with a print on the front. So if anyone can think of stuff I could do maybe to the back of it, it also needs refittng, but its not really a stretchy T-shirt as such, and when I've fitted those kinda T-sirts before its ended up tricksy to take off without risking the seamwork.. grateful for any help!
I was there  Wink

This is the first thing that I have ever made with my sewing machine that I have actually been able to use and that looks pretty OKAY!

the fabric is suh-weet (little strawberries and pink satin inside) and it holds really well

YAY CRAFTING!  Cheesy

Is the bobbin thread right when you put it in? Theres usually a diagram on how the thread goes, but it drops in, then loops around a little metal peice. If youre still having problems, look up your local sewing machine shop or the manual (if you have one).
I know they can be a pain in the back end, you'll get it though!!!

it's odd because it always works when my mum does it, just not me!

GRR!

Once you thread the top and turn the wheel on the right of the machine to move the needle down then up and catch the bobbin thread, then pull the top thread to the left a tiny bit, then you can use a pencil or something to kind of sweep (while holding the top thread to the left) under the presser foot and help pull the bobbin thread out.  Then pull both to the left a bit to keep things from getting tangled.

I hope that helps, it is really hard to explain without being able to show someone.
If that doesn't help, can you be more specific about what part of the threading you are having trouble with?

i'll try this.. I just can't get the bobbin thread to loop or come through the hole
