11  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Abstract Tree on: February 02, 2007 11:50:41 AM
Yes... I am proud of this.  The scan isn't very good, but whatever.  It's just an abstract tree in pencil crayons we had to do for an art assignment.  Oh, yes, it is supposed to be off centre on the black! Tongue

12  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Friends Are Special on: February 02, 2007 11:47:25 AM
Just a little cross stitch... from an old kit I got at Value Village one day.  It's from the eighties. Tongue Pretty simple, but I like it anyways...

13  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Stone Dragon on: February 02, 2007 11:39:57 AM
Um... This was part of an art assignment in Grade 11... we had to take a toy and draw it three times from three angles, then paint it like stone with acrylics, colour it to look like wood with pencil crayons, and paint it to look like glass with water colour.  My stone is the only one worth seeing though! Tongue

Hope you like!

14  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Portfolio Cover : Chinese Dragon Intertwining Intital Thingy on: January 28, 2007 10:48:50 AM
Okay... so this was our portfolio cover assignment for grade 11 art... take your initial (first or last) and make something intertwine all around it.  I decided to go with a Chinese dragon and make the entire think oriental themed.  (That's an R it's around, by the way.)  The writing around the edges means 'Rachel,' my name.

The pic is kind of crappy, and believe it or not, it's actually a square, but the corners were curling when I took the pic, but meh.  That's okay.

Coloured simply with pencil crayons, everything black other than what's on the dragon was done in ink.

Hope you like! Smiley
15  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Discussion and Questions / Question About Quilling on: September 09, 2006 05:50:55 AM
No... not quilting.  Cheesy

I was wondering if anyone who quills could help me out with a good glue.  I've been using plain white glue, but it make it messy and difficult.  I would think something quick-drying...

Any suggestions would be appreciated!
16  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / First Project Post - This Time With Pictures! on: July 28, 2006 09:08:40 AM
Okay.  I've been on craftster for quite a while now, but this is my first project post.  I don't have a digital camera, which is probably why this is so delayed.  Sorry in advance if the pics don't work... I've never done this before...

I love cross stitching!  I've been cross stitching since I was probably 10 or 11, and I'm 16 now.  Some of the things I'm posting are quite old, and don't really do me justice. The things you are about to see are going to be, well, lame.  The pictures don't do them justice as I had to use a scanner.  Anyways, regardless of the shoddy conditions, here they are.

All of the designs are from kits, not my own patterns, which of course makes this more lame.

This penguin was a bit odd because it hardly fit in the frame that came with it... :S Regardless, it is next to a POG to show how tiny it is.

This one looks particularly shoddy because that blurry junk around the edges is actually lace, but the scanner didn't quite pick up on that.  Again, compared to a pog.  This one has some cotton stuffed into it though.  Where as the penguin is flat, this one is puffy!  Cheesy

The Giraffe is all half stitches... POG to compare.  The next two are roughly the same size as the giraffe.

This cow is done completely in half-stitches.

The kitty is also half-stitches.  I love the 'strand' of yarn that is trailing across!

Again, these are some poor examples of what I can do, but hey... it's what I found!

I'm currently working on a much larger project, which I will be sure to steal a friend's camera and post pics for when it's done.  (Don't hold your breath!)  It is a rather large Noah's Ark scene.

18  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Discussion and Questions / Art Portfolio Design - Ideas Needed on: February 18, 2006 12:44:16 PM
My Grade Eleven art portfolio is due this coming Friday.  The idea is to take either you first of last initial (R or S) and entwine it with something.  Here's where you come in!   I need an idea for what to entwine it with.  I have some already, but I'm not really enthralled by any of them.  Vine isn't an option, as he says that's what we shoul do "if we are have nothing."

Any ideas?

Also, what do we think, R or S?

20  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions / What went wrong??? on: December 19, 2005 04:18:46 PM
Huh Huh ???So, I just attempted to make your own lip balm by melting vaseline, and from what I gather, it shouldn't have to be in the microwave for more than 30 secs, yet i put mine in there for over two minutes by the end, and it is still GELIFIED!!! I eventually gave up and mushed in the flavour anyways (the Vaseline was a touch warm), but if anyone can tell me what happened I'd really appreciate it.  Huh Huh Huh
