1  Re: One Tiny Holiday Ornament Gallery! in The Swap Gallery by rachel.in.rainbows on: December 15, 2013 06:14:00 AM
Hi everyone!

I received the sweetest little angel ornament from cmarion3 this week. It's a sweet little house! I'm a big fan of her style, so it was a lovely surprise to open to the package and find this inside. Thanks cmarion3!

And in case anyone was interested, here is a picture of the ornament I sent to jeane, which tried to pair up her love of angels and the night sky. It was a departure from my usual style, but was an interesting experiment and I was happy with her in the end.

Don't lose hope, lindyv!

Here are pics of my wayward monster, who finally made his way to my door. It's the lolly monsters, and best of all, he came with a bag of lollies! Smiley

Okay everyone, get ready for the awesome stuff I received from Sheepblue! (And special thanks to Sheepblue for being so patient! I received earlier this week, but just am getting to posting pictures now!)

First, a lovely scarf I can use to dress up as a Gorey-esque character! Smiley

Second, a lovely and absolutely perfectly done embroidery hoop! I just recently finished my first embroidery hoop swap, and am starting to collect, so this will look great! And she did an amazing job capturing Gorey in thread!

Lastly, a beautiful tote bag with a screen printed Gorey design, from the opening to Mystery! This bag is so sweet and lovely, and is going straight into my backpack to have on hand at all times!

Thank you so much sheepblue! Can't wait for you to receive... once I send that is!

Yippee! I received hoop 2/2 this week, from ilovemybrachiosauru s, but haven't had a chance to post until now. She jumped on my muppets theme, and went with Beaker, who is both of our favourites. She did an AWESOME job. (His mouth even opens!)

Apologies-- the colours are a bit dark in the photo. In real life, they are exactly the way they should be! Thank you so much! I LOVE it!

Wow, mezcraft, what a cool hoop!! It's definitely in the "more art, less craft" category! Very cool!

Hoppy's camera is broken, so she has asked me to post pictures! One of her proposed themes was Avengers, and she mentioned that the cap was one of her favourites! I thought his shield design was leant perfectly to a round hoop, and I wanted to do a quote to go with it. (I haven't seen the movie yet, and it seems like nothing cap says is especially funny, so i went with one of the movie's taglines.)

On to the pictures! This is about the clearest I managed to get. Blurry wire pics in the others!

Hi everyone!

Here is a picture of the super neat hoop I received from hoppy! She used two of my suggested themes (I seem to remember sending a long and rather varied list), and combined them in a totally unexpected way! She merged one of my favourite artists (Mucha) with Lord of the Rings, and did Galadriel in his style. Which, if you don't know Mucha, is totally cool and super ambitious! (Much more ambitious than my own plan! haha)

You can't really tell from the picture, but the shape around her is wire (meaning we both chose wire as our added element!), and the design inbetween the wires is metallic thread. As someone who has once worked with metallic thread, I can appreciate how truly infuriating it can be, but it made for a great effect! My favourite part is her hair, which looks like braids!

Thank you so much hoppy! It was great being paired together for both of our first hoopla swaps!

7  Re: Old Fashioned Book Lover's Swap GALLERY, send by Feb 26 2013 in The Swap Gallery by rachel.in.rainbows on: February 25, 2013 07:56:32 PM
Okay guys. Sit down for this one. I seriously received THE most amazing package. I am still reeling. Titaniumhip, you figured me out TO A TEA (deliberate spelling!).

I was sent a copy of Alice in Wonderland. Now, the original Alice has beautiful drawings by John Tenniel. Which is great! I love them! But Titaniumhip one-upped ol' JT and sent me a version with illustrations by Ralph Steadman. Steadman also did the art for Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, and I have admired his particular style for a long time.

For the bookmark, I received the cutest little teacup! The teapot charm on the end is actually quite weighty, so it hangs wonderfully! This is so simple and sweet!

BUT LASTLY. A short backstory. I have seriously always loved Matryoshka Dolls (it was my first swap here on Craftster!) and I've always aspired to own my own set! Titaniumhip has fulfilled my desire! And she has done so with the most charming, beautiful, custom set of Alice M-dolls! Get ready to be jealous!

Titaniumhip, if you even like what I sent you HALF as much, then I will breathe a sigh of relief! Swap anxiety has returned now that such an amazing package is sitting in my living room. Thank you sooo much for swapping!

8  Maxine! (AKA my first art doll!) in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by rachel.in.rainbows on: February 25, 2013 07:52:39 AM
I made this doll in preparation for the Junker Jane style doll swap, but I couldn't send her away. I get far too attached to things that are my "firsts." Of course then I tried to remake her for my partner, and her twin sister Victoire turned out horrendously!

Maxine is made entirely out of remaindered fabric and supplies I already had lying around. I had a victorian inspiration in mind, but sort of just went with it. I am super proud of her, and love the way she turned out!

Here she is sitting up against a pillow, being such a sassy lady...

...spread out in all her glory. (Yes, her arms and legs are just that long! What a betty-spaghetti she is!)

And a close up of her face, because that's my favourite part!

I hope you like her! C&C always appreciated! Smiley

10  Re: Sock Monkey/ Sock Critter Swap Round 2 - Gallery in The Swap Gallery by rachel.in.rainbows on: September 15, 2010 10:15:19 AM
Get ready for some photo-fatness!

This swap has been up, down, sideways, and crazy like never before!  Waterbaby and I came across some major difficulties, but in the end it's been worth it!  I love what she sent me, and hopefully she loves what I sent even half as much ('cause that'll still be a whole lot)!

From a galaxy far, far away... introducing the newest fleet member of MASA (Monkey Aeronautics and Space Administration)!  Waterbaby sent me the most adorable loveable little astronaut monkey!  She obviously chose Space/Astronaut out of my themes, but in case anyone's interested, I also sent nature, robot, 50s housewife, and Dr. Seuss. Smiley

For once, I finally remembered to take pictures as I opened! Smiley

Here's the package with letter inside:

After that, I found some robot stickers, which are cute and charming and wonderful all at once.

Some glow in the dark stars for my ceiling:

An ADORABLE (and sexy) Space Girl pin!

And lastly the monkey!

Here he is all decked out and ready to fly:

Outfit details-- MASA, his dual citizenship (as I from Canada and waterbaby is from the States) and his banana mission patch, with ars astra, meaning "art stars":

And so you can see his face better:

i've taken to leaving off his boots and gloves and helmet and dragging him around the house with me.  Just because I'm 20 doesn't mean I can't have a stuffed friend!  He's so wonderful and I love him sooo much!  Unfortunately, I didn't get a shot sans-clothes, but if I had you would have seen the cutest monkey with the gangliest limbs!

Thanks so much for a great swap, waterbaby!  Can't wait until you receive!
