1  What to give the other woman? in Knitting: Completed Projects by bluegum on: December 22, 2007 04:21:52 AM
The Back Story
So my dad and mother are going through a divorce that involve another woman... Now my dad's girlfriend and I get along quite well and they have been dating for at quite a quite long time now so I suddenly struck five days before Christmas with the question of WHAT THE HECK DO I GET HER??  Now as a crafter with an amount of spare time and a poor college kid with little to no money, I was struck by my own need of pot holders and then I realized everyone needs more pot holders ( Roll Eyes

The Project
So not being able to remember a single color in her home I just picked to colors of yarn that I liked

It's homespun 381 Barley and Red Heart  0512 Turqua

I then knitted a rectangle (and by the last inch and a half of second one I thought I was never going to be done)

Then I sowed it into a square so it had a finger/thumb pouch.

And Finally a Sudo Action Shot

I made a set of two in under two days and I slept and went to work.  I knitted them on 9's and I must say that knitting two strands of yarn on 9's was stiff and frustrating at time but gives it a good thickness to keep from burning fingers And the pouch keeps you from ploping your pot holder in your food or if placed the other way then it keeps your fingers from slipping of the edge of pot holder (maybe I'm the only one who has that issue).  If I was to do it again I would make two pouches I believe and/or make the pouch longer.

Sorry for the excess of pictures and length of this post I'm going off of no sleep.

So see it's not quite a "tramp stamp".  I also have a tiny green star on my foot but I don't have any pictures of that one right now I'll probly get pictures of those in about a month when I get the other ones put on.  I have at least 3 more to put on they all stand for something.  I dig it.

Oh and that was a couple days after they where done so yeah they are a wee bit scabby.
