crap....

i was all excited about the contest and was SO going to enter, but after seeing the pictures of the contestants in the competition already... it would be laughable for me to enter. my garden is in a total functional mode. and it's not pretty. of course, i think it's totally beautiful and i love it. it's my child. in a couple months, hopefully, it'll look fantastic. the vegetables will be BURSTING, son! so... maybe later.

3  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / Re: Button / Badge / Pin Makers on: February 03, 2006 04:53:43 PM
sure, that thing is cute. i have one that looks like a chicken. but... they make cruddy buttons and the parts are too expensive. you GOTTA go with the good 'ol model 100 1" button maker.

http://www.buttonbiz.com/100-button-maker.htm

i got a button maker, a circle cutter  (i recommend the hole punch kind, not the one you crank) and parts for 1000 buttons for like 250 on ebay. and i've bought several sets of 1000 button parts for like 30 bucks. i've more than paid for my button maker. they're easy, quick and the machine is HEARTY! you can accidently put two of a part in the thing and it trucks right along. try that with one of the plastic junkers.

man, i feel like i'm SELLING the things... i'm not! they're just totally AWESOME!

as for the square button makers, here:

those things are CRAZY EXPENSIVE!!!

anyway, that's my two cents. unless you plan on making and selling a bunch of buttons, getting someone to make buttons is better. i did it for years and then started selling more and more of my buttons in some stores and at my band's shows and at comic conventions and stuff, so i finally got my own. i love it like a baby bear.

wooooooops! i haven't been on here in so long!

yeah, this past halloween i was a BAT! it was so awesome. less cute. more menacing. but with the same idea. black hoodie. ears. i sewed wings from the underside of my arms down the sides of the torso. it was superfun. i don't have any pictures. i'll ask around.
