31  GLASS CRAFTS / Glass Crafts: Completed Projects / My first fused glass dish on: June 21, 2011 07:12:05 PM
I have taken a couple of fusing workshops, and I am *hooked*!
This is my first piece bigger than a pendant. As you can see, it isn't perfect, but I am excited anyway. I love working with glass! I can't wait to take another class!

Tips/concrit welcomed
32  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / 1,000 Origami Cranes on: February 23, 2011 11:17:10 AM
I have always wanted to fold 1,000 cranes. I finally took a little class on folding cranes out of PMC, and finally mastered the crane, so I decided to get some paper and start folding. After a long and freezing winter of hiding from the snow, here are my 1,000 Cranes!

33  COOKING / Dessert / Chinese New Year Cupcakes on: February 12, 2011 08:48:45 PM
I'm not much of a baker, but I was invited to a Chinese New Year party and I decided to make themed cupcakes. I used regular white cake mix with red food coloring, dark chocolate frosting, gold wrappers, and red "cake glitter", and made some decorative pics. It all looks a bit pink in the pictures, but it was red, and they were quite popular at the party. Smiley  Happy year of the rabbit!

34  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Very Proud of my frugal new curtains! on: January 30, 2011 11:49:59 AM
I made curtains for my living room. I have resisted having them, but for 2 reason I concluded that I needed them. One, you can see through my blinds at night, and two, Milou has decided it's his job to stare out the window and bark at anything that moves. Also, I only have single glazed windows, so it may help keep it warm in here.

The problem is that I have 5 windows, so even cheap fabric adds up, and finding 10 matching panels that I like in a thrift store  is almost impossible.

So, I was in Target and found some clearance shower curtains, and voila! I cut them in half, sewed a rod pocket, and made curtains for $21! It would not have been my first choice of fabrics but I quite like it. I will have to get used to how much darker the room seems, but it will definitely give me privacy, and hopefully some bark-prevention.

Here they are:

35  CRAFTING FOR GOOD AND NOT EVIL / Crafty Charitable/Social Causes / Valentines for Chained Dogs on: January 30, 2011 11:38:04 AM
I found out about this cool project through a local pet photographer, and decided to whip up a few Valentines really quickly. They are sending Valentines, along with information and coupons for dog food & treats, to homes with chained or penned dogs, in the hopes of educating people about more humane ways to care for their pets.  I altered some Valentines from the $1 bins at Michaels. I put a little chain across the two hearts and wrote "unchain my heart" and added pictures cut out from Bark magazine, with the caption "dogs love unconditionally". Inside is another pic and the caption "I <3 you. Please <3 me"
I hope they will help!

36  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Holiday Bunting on: December 17, 2010 08:07:33 AM
I made this holiday bunting using crepe paper (white, tea stained), an old Swedish hymnal, and some various holiday ephemera strung from butcher's twine.
It was for a friend, and she liked it! Yay!

37  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Joyeux Noel Banner on: December 10, 2010 07:46:43 PM
I made a Christmas banner for my house. It says "Joyeux Noel" (my guy is French, so we like French sayings around here), although the letters are pretty small. I used fancy paper, an old Swedish hymnal, crepe paper garland, and some glittery stickers.

38  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Little Felt Trees on: December 10, 2010 07:32:48 PM
I decided to make some little felt tree decorations for some gifts this year. Each one is a little different.

39  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Snowballs on: December 10, 2010 09:16:24 AM
I was so inspired by Knickertwist's emotional snowballs last year (or 2?) that I decided to try my hand at making some. I used papier mache over styrofoam, some pearly paint, and glitter.

I went a bit crazy and made 2 dozen. Lots of people are getting snowballs this year!
40  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Easy Halloween Dog Collar on: October 31, 2010 03:14:03 PM
I whipped this up with a couple .25 yards of clearance holiday fabric and some non-roll elastic. It's a quick and festive collar for $2.36!
