5991  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Re: 2 questions.... on: November 19, 2005 03:36:17 PM
I adore http://www.handpaintedyarn.com  Their yarns are gorgeous and come from a women's co-op in Uraguay. The colors are a bit inconsistent and don't always look like the web (because they are hand dyed) but they are always beautiful, super soft, and good prices.

Oooh, I think they're German or something but you made me think of Kinder Eggs! Fun!

I wouldn't worry about the Latvian thing. Odds are, your Grandma won't know, and even if she does, it's beautiful! Any Latvian or non-Latvian Grandma would be thrilled to receive such a special gift!!

Those branches are GORGEOUS!!! Is that your wedding?? Wow!

Maybe it's just the grass is greener (or "chocolate is more chocolicious") on the other side of the pond! But yeah....I love the creamy chocolatey loveliness of British sweets! Oh, and I miss diet Lilt!!! I guess that would be a bit much to swap though, haha. I also have a weird smell-memory association about Sainsbury's dryer sheets..yeah, I'm a weirdo. I'm glad we have Lush now, and I can even get Boots products (happy dance of joy) But no Lilt or the yoghurt!

We have peanut butter here in the uk but they don't seem to have made any related sweetie products....I wish they would!

This thread on another board I post on might be of some interest!

That's hilarious. Yep, it's not that there's no PB, it's the sugar and chocolate components that are missing. Of course any Brits who really love the stuff could always make "Buckeyes" (which I guess you'd have to call conkers, or horsechestnuts): mix up PB with confectioners sugar, roll into balls, dip in melted chocolate, and chill until firm. Nice. Or, request them in this swap!  Grin  My BF at Uni used to always want me to bring PB Snickers, which they don't make any more, as well a s PB Twix, which they still make (and cartons of duty free cigs but that's another matter). Candy is so much better in the UK though. What I REALLY miss is Sainsbury's thick & creamy vanilla yoghurt. Nothing here compares!

I've been eyeing some on Amazon....The Reindeer Room and a few other chillout/remix/loungey/dancey ones. MUST   RESIST     BUYING
Does anyone have a recommendation on the "best" of that genre?
5999  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions / Re: Trendy hairstyle ideas--anyone? on: November 18, 2005 11:34:37 AM
Sounds like we're in the same boat, hairwise! Mine is medium/longish and I'm ready for a change. I've been considering a long a-line or maybe just bangs and a different color. Hmmm...I'm curious to hear other ideas too! Mine just grew out and after waiting patiently for it to grow I'm wanting to cut it! Grass is greener I suppose!
