okay - is this feeling of crafty unworthiness normal in swaps? i am so paranoid that easily influenced will not like my cd! i am so anxious (hunts for xanax). i wish canadia/usa mail would move FASTER!!!
Yeah, it is. I am relatively new to swaps and I get it too. I just made a stuffy for sea of stars and her stuff is SO great, I was really nervous I'd be unworthy. But she liked it! Yay! Anyway, most people on here are super nice, and I figure if I send something I would like to receive, that's probably the best indicator. Right? So, don't worry! Be Merry!  Wink

5905  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Re: Gifts for the mentally challenged on: December 08, 2005 10:39:18 AM
Those are all great ideas. What about glass marble picture frames? Fabric painted tshirts, pillow cases, or tea towels? Painted flower pots? Mosaic stepping stones?  Soap? Ornaments are good too. I love the in a jar gifts, they can share with their families. Items that can be gifts or useful/practical items are great because they are still age appropriate but not too difficult. For some crafts you can do some of the prep work ahead so they can do more of the assembly, and not have too many complicated steps. In a group you're likely to have a variety of ability levels and challenges, so some folks will need more/different types of assistance.  Good luck and have fun!

I dunno....One of the fun things about the swaps is the challenge to make something new, or something you don't make often (like I recently made a stuffy, and had a blast with it. I love making stuffies but I don't have a big desire to own many...) BUT, if I took a stab at something and it just didn't work I'd include a really good bonus/replacement and just say "so...this didn't turn out as I'd hoped, I'm really sorry, but here's a whatever-I make-really-well also"  or maybe PM and see if the person would like something else also. I agree about just sending something crappy (bad) but I think it's OK to try something new for a swap, as long as you end up sending a nice package in the end. As so many have said, communication is key!
5910  HOME SWEET HOME / Pet-Related Crafts: Discussion and Questions / Re: yummy yummy cat treats on: December 07, 2005 02:03:15 PM
My cats, Grendel & Elroy, LOVE iceberg lettuce, and cilantro. But they are not fans of Italian parsley. Weirdos!  Grin But I do have a recipe for cat or dog treats (just make smaller balls for cats). Mix baby food (normally meat but perhaps veggie...just NO ONIONS) with wheat germ and powdered milk to form a dough, roll into balls and bake until slightly browned. My dog loves them. My cats, not so much, but as I mentioned, they are weirdos who eat cilantro!
