I just got my beautiful black & white skull fairisle hat from Orangeabsinthe!! It's so wonderful!!! It's soft and warm, covers my ears, and makes my ugly-but-warm "mom coat" look just that bit cooler. Still haven't gotten my camera back but will post pix as soon as I can. I LOVE it!! THANKS Orangeabsinthe!!! You rock!!!

Better late than never...here's the pic, as modeled by a vase as I look wretched tonight! But I do look better in this awesome hat! Thanks again!!

BTW Orangeabsinthe, PM me if you want me to email you the jpg!

sometimes the legend & iconagraphy & symbolism are what's important anyway. I still think it's neat, either way.

5906  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions / Honey? on: November 26, 2005 03:24:56 PM
So, my neighbor just brought me a 1/2 gallon of honey. Yep. Half a GALLON. And she has a CASE of 1/2 gallon bottles of honey from her BF's Mom. That's more toast and PB 'n honey sandwiches than this whole building could eat in a year! Does anyone have any great beauty recipes involving honey? Some of my favorite products over the years have been honey products but I've never attempted to make any. Ideas? Suggestions? Recipes? THANKS!!

I buy caulk and grout at the hardware store, in the tile floor section. Might be a bit cheaper/larger amounts than the craft store. I caulk the bits to the base and grout over, then seal it it with grout sealer. For glass etc I do use broken dishes etc, but I think you can use just about anything flattish. A lot of people use river stones or glass marbles. You can also break up flooring tile.
5908  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Re: can someone explain American food to an Aussie?? on: November 25, 2005 11:03:48 PM
The definition of a casserole is a food that is served in the same dish that it was prepared/cooked in. Like a macaroni and cheese casserole (not the box kind, the "real" kind- i.e. the hard kind no one ever makes). And I know that definition is right because Alton Brown wouldn't lie to me. He's so damn smart and dreamy.

I don't know what a hotdish is. I've never even heard the term. Is it regional?

I agree on the Alton Brown thing. My mom still makes mac'n'cheese in the oven like that for me [with homemade cheese sauce and breadcrumbs on top!] whenever I come home to visit. And hotdish is a midwestern term.

I think hotdish is an UPPER midwest term. I grew up in Ohio and Indiana and never heard that word until I moved to Minnesota, now I keep hearing it. At first I thought people meant hot dishes, like fresh from the dishwasher! LOL
5909  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Re: Absinthe Lolly Pops on: November 25, 2005 10:51:05 PM
Sooooo...... who could send me a bottle of this Absinthe with the "good stuff" in it?  I would be willing to pay for the shipping and for your trouble.  I read about it in a mag one time and I've been aching to try it!  PM me if anyone is interested!

The website in Motleykitten's post appears to mail order it.
