231  Re: Ongoing Wishlist Round 7 Gallery in The Swap Gallery by batgirl on: March 23, 2006 05:06:55 PM
I feel like an idiot, and worse, a thoughtless idiot. I received some AMAZING kanzashi from Seaof stars, a while ago, and I completely forgot to post! I am soooo sorry Rachel! My only excuse is that I have been wearing them so much I've barely taken them off to photograph! But really, I'm just working 2 jobs and joined a group at a gym, and I am surprised I can remember my own name at the moment! Anyway...here's a bad pic of some BEAUTIFUL flowers! I've been wearing them nonstop, and they seem to go with everything I own! THANK YOU so much, Seaofstars, and I hope you didn't think I don't like them. They are exquisite!!

if you have a better pic please feel free to post it! My camera sucks! I added the loose flower to a hair stick, I love it!!!

So today I came home to part 2 of my swap goodies, and you guys are not even going to believe what I got!! Without further ado...

Yes, it's the most gorgeous tree bag I've ever seen. With a tree lining! Determined Improvisation is no less than a true crafting genius. It's one of those items I can just hear people for years saying "What?! Somebody MADE that??" with a look of wonder. I wish my pics were better (Holly, you always take good photos, feel free to chime in here if you've got better ones!). The colors, the quality, the design...I just can't even tell you how amazing it is! And it's so soft!!! You should all light a candle to the craftster gods that you get Holly as a future swap partner!!
As a side note, we both needed a little extra time so we agreed to send out twice. I actually really liked that, it was like 2 swaps in one! Thanks again, Holly!! I bow to your genius!  Kiss Kiss

234  Tree Lamp in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General by batgirl on: March 21, 2006 02:45:19 PM
I made this recently for the Tree Swap, and my partner just received it. It was so much fun to make! It all started when I saw a really cool tree lamp in Elle Decor for hundreds of dollars. I said to myself "self, you can make that" but I wasn't sure exactly how! A bit later I saw a similar lamp in Anthropologie but it was a little more elaborate than I wanted. I was once again inspired to think about making one. Then the tree swap happened and I thought I'd have a go and make one for the swap, to see how it worked out. I was really pleased with the result. Next I believe I'll make one for me!

I feel really bad that it's taken almost a month to post a pic, but here is the GORGEOUS panta-hybrid that Littlest Ninja designed and made for me!! I wear it constantly! There is a plus to the delay....she included 2 loose flowers so I could move them or wear them on other things, and one disappeared under suspicious circumstances the very day it arrived! It was found just today under a radiator! Two furry orange suspects are in custody but so far neither one is talking. But without further delay...here it is in all its exquisite glory!! THANK YOU Stephanie, and please know that the photo delay was no reflection on my panta/hat! It's barely left my head since I got it!

It's maroon with gorgeous cream and rose flowers, and sage green leaves, although it looks rather darker in the photo!

OK, I'm working on catching up posting pics, so here are a few!

First, some of the bouquet's worth of crochet flowers I received from Bloocanoe! These 2 are pinned on to the panta she sent me in another swap. I don't have pics of the others yet, but one is black with gorgeous tiny beads, one is black and white (LOVE it!) and there are a few assorted shades of pink and red, as well as these two:

I've been wearing flowers on everything!!
She also sent me a whole bunch of roving. I don't have a pic of that but here's a little squirrel I made using some of it, along with some black:

Thanks, Bloo!!  Kiss

Here's the Believe shrine & other bits I sent her:

Yay for swaps!!  Wink

EDITED to add pic of Bloo's flowers! I love them!

239  Jimmy the Squirrel in Felting: Completed Projects by batgirl on: March 04, 2006 09:04:40 PM
So, I've been learning about felting through the felt-alongs, and I love it! This is my 2nd attempt at a little needle felted creature..Jimmy the Squirrel! I moved to Minnesota in the fall and I'd never seen a black squirrel before. There is one who lives in my street, I've taken to calling him Jimmy. Jimmy will NOT let me take his picture, so I've recreated him in felt! Cheesy

240  Re: shrine swap 2 gallery in The Swap Gallery by batgirl on: March 04, 2006 08:57:21 PM
I have photos! Yay!
First, here is the beautiful shrine Pretend peterpan sent me. It's for Strength, because I sometimes get myself all worked up and freak out, so I wanted a shrine to help me be strong to face my fears and challenges. And it's PERFECT, I love the colors, the sybolism, she used cherry blossoms, which are my favorite. it's just so perfectly "me"!

Isn't it gorgeous?

Here are the ones I sent her. I used her themes of Mexican/Catholic kitsch and 50's pin up girls.

These were so much fun to make! I think I'm hooked on shrines!!  Cheesy
