1  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / 50/50 wool angora HELP! on: November 07, 2005 05:12:06 PM
Hello fellow knitters,

I'm planning on making the 'yorick' scarf off knittyhttp://www.knitty.com/ISSUEfall05/PATTyorick.html as a christmas present for my ex boyfriend, however, as I always have at least 5 projects on the go at any time, I need to get cracking, and I cant find the right wool!!!!

Basically, The wool used isn't available in the uk as far as I know, and I don't have a good yarn shop nearby to find a good substitute.I've been searching online with no luck, so the question is......

Do you know any brands of 50/50 wool angora yarn availalbe in the uk, or online?

Thank you in advance for your help!!!
2  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / from 'mum style' 80's top to sassy sailor tube top! on: September 08, 2004 08:37:32 AM

I bought this top many moons ago, because I really liked the anchor patch but I really didn't know what to do with it. It was washed out, oversized, and a horrible button up number like your mum might have worn on holiday in the 80's. I know my mum did. Anyway, after some chopping, I really like it!

Please excuse the state of my bathroom mirror, its about 80 years old, and scratched.
3  U.K. AND IRELAND / ENGLAND / UK consignment site? on: August 24, 2004 09:26:19 AM
Hello all!
I didn't even know we had a regional message board on here until neany toll me (thanks janine!!) Right, I'm working on my website at the moment, and originally I thought I'd just sell my own creations, but I got thinking that we dont have a www.cutxpaste.com style consignment site in england.

So, what I'd like to know ladies and gentlemen (if there are and gents on here!) is would any of you be interested in selling your wares on a consignment site? I think it could really be a sucess!

Check out www.plainmabel.com too, thats another great (american) consignment site.

If you need an explanation of what a consignment site is, then send me a private message!

4  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / new life for old jumper? on: January 21, 2004 12:20:05 PM
I have a wooly jumper I bought from a charity shop with the intention of reconstructing in into something wearable. I still haven't, because im unsure about how to cut and sew it, without it unraveling. My friend said if I was it at a high temparature it should 'felt', and not unravel.

I can't bare to throw it away, but im getting fed up of seeing the damn sweater.Any ideas on what I should do?
