11  Re: romeo and juliet swap gallery in The Swap Gallery by knitty mcknitknit on: November 01, 2006 03:52:08 PM
Yay, I got my package from Heatherfeather!

-Two gorgeous tiles (with some of my favorite shots from the movie) that I will use as coasters
-A very cool papered-and-ribboned journal -- the flowered print is JUST like Romeo's Hawaiian shirt!
-A hand-drawn card, very pretty, and
-A CD with one of my favorite quotes: "I have bought the mansion of love but not yet possessed it / and though I am sold not yet enjoyed."

Thanks, Heatherfeather! This was a fun swap!

Off to watch the R+J movie yet again...

12  Felt In-N-Out Burger (for Lebowski swap) in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by knitty mcknitknit on: September 10, 2006 02:41:38 PM
Hey there!

I made this for the Big Lebowski swap...my version of the In-N-Out Burger so enjoyed by the Walter and Donny (and the Dude?):

Me enjoying the felt tastiness:

Sorry the pix are so big.

The sewing is far from professional but I like it. Might make one for me'self, for a pincushion. Thanks for looking!

13  Irish Hiking Baby Hat in Knitting: Completed Projects by knitty mcknitknit on: August 15, 2006 05:27:47 PM
In the tradition of the Irish Hiking Scarf, I've made a little cabled baby hat. I cast 84 stitches on size 7 straights, did 2x2 rib for a few inches and then switched to the Irish Hiking pattern (7 twists). Squared it off, seamed, and added tassels a la Sprout from www.magknits.com. It's bigger than I expected, but I like it, and hopefully the almost-mom will.

I can give slightly more precise instructions if needed. This is the first project I've "winged" and it's not perfect.

14  Re: Homemade Oreo Cookies in Dessert by knitty mcknitknit on: August 03, 2006 06:41:10 PM
Hooray! I was skeptical but loved these once I made them. They were a big hit at work; will have to make again.

Thanks for the recipe!

15  Baby Hats for Save The Children in Knitting: Completed Projects by knitty mcknitknit on: July 25, 2006 06:12:49 PM
Not sure if you knitters/crocheters have heard of this, but the international health organization Save the Children is putting out an APB for baby hats. These hats are used to conserve crucial body heat for at-risk newborns in the developing world.

Read all about it here:
www.savethechildren.org, scroll down to Caps to the Capital

These are my contributions so far:

They are a very quick knit, and addictive. Please spread the word. Save some little lives!

And knitty mcknitknit posts her lovely crafts from regansbox!!

Various fabulous muppet goodies: a great charm bracelet (which I'm wearing right now) with shrinky dinks; a chain necklace, also shrinky dink-ed with a cool old pic of JH, Rowlf, and Frank Oz (Is it Frank?); other Rowlf charms that I might use as stitch markers, and some tasty homemade peanut butter cookies in a cookie monster bag...

A fozzie shoulder bag! Complete with tie shoulder strap :-)

Close up of Fozzie...love the bow tie!

And the piece de resistance (sp?)...

A lounge set! Big, comfy tee and handsewn capri pants. The tee is decorated with images of JH creatures sleeping, like this one:

and the pants are made out fabric covered in letters. As Regansbox says, "This lounge set brought to you by the letter Z -- as in zzzzzzzzzzzzz." And with that, I'm off to sleep early.

Thank you, Regansbox!!! I love it all :-)

18  Re: 'Kate' from Winter Knitty! in Knitting: Completed Projects by knitty mcknitknit on: April 12, 2006 08:23:06 PM
Hooray for Kates! These two cool kids were my first "piquant" projects from Knitty, though I can't say I'm a piquant knitter since I skipped the legs ;-)

Here they are, one for me and one for a friend. I named them Tommy and Gina, a la Bon Jovi:

And from the back (for the tails):

Good job, everyone!

Hooray, my first craft post! I've made lots of armwarmers over the past year but only just got a digital camera. They've Knitty's Voodoo, and I love them, though they're for a friend. Hope the felt holds!
