I've actually almost finished with my capelet, I did a mock version (thank you humblestumble, I borrowed your mock pants concept!) and finished it in almost no time, and now I need to figure out how to make it with the kind of yarn I have, which is freakishly finer than what is called for in the pattern. I'm still lagging behind on those demos for my work and the t-shirt for that neighborhood kid, but I did alter 2 tshirts into 1:
Please don't mind the pained look in my face - my boyfriend was trying really hard to make me giggle.
Humblestumble: I love the new name! And the mock-pants thing is brilliant. I should try that... I've made way too many ill-fitting things in beautiful fabrics!
Gwenluvy: That chair idea is genius! I can't wait to see pictures! And how did the Necromantix show go? (A bit late to ask, I know...) And that purse is very cute!
It's awesome to see everyone crossing things off their lists, so I thought I'd give it a shot:
1- finish my mom's scrapbook, or rethink it as a travel book for her boat trip this summer, either way get it done! Done! But no pictures...
2- get halfway done on the handmade journal I'm hoping to give my best friend when she comes down to visit (from Scotland! Lucky b****...) on June 18th This I didn't finish because she never ended up coming... I might get it done and ship it to her soon. 3- Make father's day presents for my dad and my boyfriend's dad Done! I posted the coasters for Jay's dad, and here is my dad's gift:
4- Re-do some items for a swap I was part of... The package came back to me yesterday and the main items (a set of decorated glasses) were shattered. Done! And she received! Here are the pics:
Hmmm... looks like I need a new list! I'll have to pick from the thirty thousand things I want to do... I'll post it soon!
Great bag PinkyK! I love the fabric! And by the way, you haven't gotten really annoyed at patterns until you've tried getting crafty on the second day that you've quit smoking. My boyfriend was frightened at some of the things that came out of my mouth, and there may or may not have been some throwing of glue sticks around... but, it's all better now: I finished the gift for my father-in-law (Dale Earnhardt Sr coaster set), and the items for a swap I had to re-do because the post office also aparently enjoys throwing things around, and shattered the first items I'd sent my partner... (but I can't post those cause I forgot to take pictures), and I finished my mom's book (but forgot to take pics of that, too... d'oh!) and now I'm working on a late father's day gift for my dad, which is due next Sunday. Anyway, here's the one thing I did take pictures of, the coaster set for my stepdad:
He really liked them! (huge Dale fan). So, on to the next project... Great work everyone!
Hi! I'm fully aware that this thread is a little... dated, but I came across it while searching for a gift idea for my father-in-law, who's a gigantic Dale Sr fan. Just thought I'd share with you what I ended up making, for future gift ideas for your stepdad! I made him a set of 6 coasters with a matching box. It was freakishly simple, but a little long to make (I had to do several coats of varnish to make sure they'd be somewhat water-proof!). Anyway, there you go!
He loved them! Hope maybe it'll help for the next time!
Good job on the cozy, Cheesbro! Oh how I miss my sewing machine... I got mad at it last time I used it and may have gotten a little abusive... the tension's all off and wobbly now and it refuses to accept any of my apologies! Anyway... So I finally finished one of my scrapbooks, gave it to my boyfriend's mom yesterday, she cried! I guess that's a good thing? Anyway, here's what it looked like bound together:
Here's the intro,
... and here are the last pages I had to do (T to Z)!
All and all, it took over 30 hours for the whole A to Z thing. And now I have to make one for my mom! Gaaah!
Gaaah! It's mother's day already!?!? Well, my plans to make scrapbooks for both my mom and my boyfriend's mom didn't get fully done. I stayed up until 3am last night trying to finish at least one (my boyfriend's mom's), and only got to page 19 of 26... The idea was to do an "A to Z" album, each page being a different word, either describing her or things that are important to her, some with pictures but most with just the words. Anyway, I was supposed to do one for my mom too but she's away for the weekend, thank god! Either way, I wasn't able to finish my boyfriend's mom's one but turns out she can only get to town next weekend, so I get an extension! Here's what I have so far (A to S):
Sorry about the crummy picture quality, I'm not too sure how to reduce them and they always end up pixel-y. I plan to bind all the pages together using ribbons on the sides, nothing fancy. Still, this took WWAAAYYYY longer than what I had thought! Why must I always take on more than I can handle?
PS: As you all can probably guess, I haven't done anything else on my list... But as soon as this is over with, I will! Congrats on everyone who are actually finishing stuff!
Hiya! This is my very first post of anything I've made, so please let me know if the pics don't turn out right... I made this shirt for my boyfriend as a present, he was totally thrilled (loves that movie to no end... as do I!) The stencils were from stencilry.com, just to give credit where credit is due!
I'm very proud of it, it turned out killer for a first shot at stenciling on clothing! I'm also thinking of developing a small crafty business, if any of you guys could let me know how much you'd be willing to spend for something like this, I'd appreciate it! (I'm aware I couldn't use stencilry.com's stencils for selling because of copyrights, I'd have to make my own, this is just to give me an idea of what the prices could be!) thanks so much!
