1  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / Thank You Cards for friends on: September 21, 2008 02:23:09 PM
This is the first time I'm posting a project that I've made.  I hope you like it.  I'm into making my own thank you cards; I think it's really nice to show someone you appreciated their thoughts by sending them a handmade card.  I like emboss designs from brass stencils and use foam tape to give a 3D look.  Here are three thank you cards I made.  I like to use the Taj Clubhouse (it's this really cute store in Honolulu that sells shirts, stencils, stamps and clothes for little kids) stencils because I think the characters are really cute!  Enjoy Smiley

Your earrings are very pretty.  I like how the wire wrapping is tight and the finish is clean without any wire ends sticking out.  I can never get mine to end nicely.

Your bouquet is soooo gorgeous; just glancing at it you would swear that it was real.

Is it possible to add two categories?  How about Beading and Scrapbooking?  For beading I'd like to add The Bead Gallery on Ward upstairs from Kramer's Big and Tall and Bead It in Kaimuki.  I've also heard DACS in Harbor Center is also a good place.  For Scrapbooking I'd like to add Scrapbook Clubhouse Hawaii near Boston's Pizza on Kamehmeha Highway and Stamps and Memories also in Harbor Center.

If anyone likes to scrapbook there are two places in Pearl City I know of:  Scrapper's Den (my boyfriend's Mom loves it) and Scrapbook Clubhouse near Pearlridge.  I also know of a place in Kailua called A Place In Time.  They just opened recently and have lots of cute things.

Hi my name is Miki and I am 23.  I live on Oahu on the Windward side.  I am not an avid crafter, but I do have spurts of inspiration usually around the holiday season.  That's usually my own fault because I've told my boyfriend that I want something handmade for Christmas and he usually responds with I want something handmade, too.  I dabbled in beading (my boyfriend's mom is super talented in this area), embroidery, sewing, knitting, crochet, stamping, scrapbooking, card making, cross stitch, and drawing.  I mostly doodle the same little motif over and over again.

I think it is called bead mania and it is in Pearl City in the Harbor Center or something like that.  It looks like a bunch of warehouses in the industrial area with Goodwill on the main street and there is a porn warehouse right before that Harbor Center place.  Sorry, I'm not real exact on where it is located I'm actually from the Windward side.  My boyfriend lives in Pearl City.

If you ever venture out to the Windward side Kailua has a Bead It, but they are pretty pricey and their section is limited.  I must say that the staff at the Kailua Bead It are very helpful and very nice.  I also like to go to this boutique type store called Global Village Marketplace near Starbucks in Kailua.  They have a small selection also, but they have a lot of natural looking items to bead with.  They have shells and some natural stones and things that look really nice on hemp, but I thik they would also look really nice on a suede string.  I also like to look at some of the jewelry there to get an idea of what i would like to make.

If you are close to Chinatown there are a bunch of places that sell beads on Mauna Kea Street for pretty cheap.  They mostl sell semiprecious stones strung together to make it easier to sell.  If I remember correctly they are pretty reasonably priced.

I hope this helps you a little bit.  My boyfriend's mom usually buys her beads online, too, but she also likes to go to that bead mania place.
