So it's finally finished! My lovely sock horse that I just HAD to make after I found a giant model of a horse. This little guy isn't squishy, it's tailored to fit over a really detailed horse sculpture. : ) The horseshoes are made of felt and contrast stitched on...the eyes are buttons, the yarn hair is rooted and the eyelashes/eye rim is embroidered.

It's all sewn by hand and I'm very proud! It turned out so cool (I think anyway). It probably took about 4 pairs of socks...this guy is pretty big: 19"H, 24"L, 8"W

I am doing some research on modern quilting (hard to research something so overlooked!) and I am looking for specific kinds of artists. I'm already familiar with kaffe fasset and jane sassaman, and I was wondering if anyone knew of any more quilting/fiber artists with a more modern flair like the ones I mentioned.

Artists with a larger body of work would probably be better for what I'm needing.

I'm visiting my friend (an American who is studying abroad for a semester) in Vienna at the end of November.

I was wondering if anyone could recommend cool places to go while I'm there. Of course I'm interested in museums and such, but that info is easy for me to get. I'm more interested in finding out about things off the beaten path that aren't in travel guides.

So many people on here fix crummy things they find at thrift stores, I think it would be cool to do a lamp re-vamp!  This was an actual assignment at my university but we never got to do it because it was so far back on the syllabus....

Anyway, to make a long story short, I think we should make awesome looking lamps out of cheapie, ugly, useless lamps.

I'm involved with an upstart roller-derby league here in st. louis.  We are going to have our first benefit show Friday, Jan 20th

The reason I post this is that: A.) I am a loyal craftster lover B.) we are still recruiting C.) we are still looking for volunteers and girls etc.

Once we break into teams we are going to have to sew costumes and such...and I think this might be right up some crafty girls alleys!

He's not too thrilled.

I am being cheetara for halloween (I'll post my costume once I finish it) but I'm kind of stumped on how to do the makeup. Does anyone have any recs for good makeup that won't cake up or slide off my face by the end of the night?  I am going to have to paint my face, neck and chest and maybe my arms to pull this off so I need something that will stay put! I'm thinking that your run-of-the-mill drugstore halloween makeup won't cut it.

Any Ideas?  (This will give you a better example if you aren't familiar with the Thundercats)

It looks kind of tan in that picture, but most of the time she has almost completely white "skin" (fur???)
