Thanks so much everyone for the complements...I love the fabric too. The fabric is all from joann's, except for the pink inner zip lining, that comes from this awesome place called Fabric D'or here in dallas (which is so big I litterally got lost in it.)
The bunnies, skunks, and racoons corduroy I found in the remnents bin,
The super cute smiley face skulls and crossbones i found in the little kids section..
The pokadots for the card slots,in the quilters section.
and the pink vinyl i found 2 years ago or so in the remnents bin when i lived in NY.
I'm big into the remnents bin cuz i'm cheap. all my zippers are either reclaimed off of old projects, from thrift stores, or garage sales.
Did you follow a basic pattern and then just tweak it? Looks complicated but it's wonderful - congratulations!
I basically am super picky about wallets and purses, and i'm also really cheap, soo I window shop...( i won't pay $50-$100 for a wallet cuz i'd have nothing left to put in it...hahaha..and i'm cheap and I like to make stuff) so, i just went and looked at wallets at the mall and online and then came home and drew what I thought I would like my perfect wallet to look like and then visualized what i would need to put it together(all the pieces) and tried to write it all down, while i was sewing it. I made the pattern up by measuring my old wallet and measuring all the stuff in my wallet (cards, money, receipts) and added seam allowences to everything...but this also isn't my first attempt at this wallet...tester wallet
...this one doesn't look so good and I will eventually reclaim the zips and fabric for some patchwork something or another. It takes some trial and error and i write down what went wrong so i don't do it again. like next time i might not use that binding tape... what a pain in the tush that stuff is when it's so thin and you refuse to pin anything, but it was kinda necessary cuz so many card slots dont fold over so well to seam. =P
