My fiance and I ( ) just told my mum the news tonight.  Shortly after realized we don't have rings.  Not that this is a huge thing to us but it will be to family.  We aren't looking for anything fancy and by that I mean we don't want anything fancy.  Simple bands will do.  However, We are joining the Peace corps. next year and they will need to be sturdy.  Like, Digging ditches in Africa sturdy.  With all of that said, I'm looking for these to either be free or trade work.  We're BROKE.  Welp, Let me know, yeah?  Oh, We're getting married either this month or next so it's kind of an ASAP thing.

My boyfriend just called and asked if I could do something creative for him and make wrist restraints for when he gets home.... heh heh.  Of course, I said, yes.  Problem.  I have no leather and I can only sew by hand.  I was thinking crochet because I am experienced in this area but then you have to worry about the stitches stretching and not serving there purpose for long at all.
I've searched google and craftster like a mad man for the last hour trying to come up with an idea but haven't come back with much.
I have felt and yarn. lol
He gets home in...*looks at clock*.... 3 hours and some change.
I know you guys can help me pull this off.

There was this scarf, I found in a harry potter swap gallery (I think).  It was chunky, messy and looked like it was made from lots of different yarns.  I believe I remember her calling it her monster scarf.  I can't find it.  I've searched high and low and with no luck. 


I want to make one like it but I need a picture for reference.

Any ideas?

So, I had been eyeballing this tut (linked below) for sometime and finally made my own.

These are REALLY easy to make.
I used watercolors to color them.
Well, picture time!

Gator colors for a friend.


Yellow and red for mum (her favorite colored rose)



and tye dye for my boyfriend.



It may not be easy to see in the pictures, sorry!

I didn't follow the tut to the T, though.  I used string instead of wire and wire instead of a pin.  I looped gem beads on the ends of the wire.

I hope these inspire.

So, I found this sweater at Wal-mart I think, last winter (I know, I know, I'm a horrible person).  It was the only one left and it was marked WAY down.  As you can guess it doesn't fit.  Well, It stays on but not the way I would like.  I'm scared it will unravel if I cut it and I plan on sewing it by hand.  I'm also scared to make it look wonky.  Any advice would be awesome.

So, I've recently picked up juggling.    I made some weighted balls with newspaper, rubber bands and paper clay but if I drop these at all they chip.    I just saw something about Temari balls, which are beautiful.  I may pick up a book on it. 

So, The advice I'm looking for:

Weights? and durability?

I'm making a tutu but I know from experience that after the third or fourth strip they will start coming out all wonky.

Any thoughts on cutting LOTS of strips of tulle evenly??

I was thinking of rolling the tulle and then cutting it but that method worries me.
