1  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / what to do with GOLD ICE (*gorgeous bulky mohair*) on: December 24, 2008 12:53:23 AM
My (unofficial) mother in law gave me a skein of this gorgeous bulky weight mohair for my birthday:

http://gardenpartyfibers.com/index.php?cat_id=202&catname=%27Gold%20Ice%27

from the site "Mohair locks handspun, then plyed with a gold lurex thread. In this new lot the gold lurex is spun with a firm white thread, creating a sturdier yarn. This very soft buttery mohair is a bulky weight yarn."

This stuff is so soft and beautiful I've been afraid to use it!

What kind of a pattern would you go for to really make use of this delicious yarn?

maybe a bulky lace scarf or stole?

need input!

4  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Re: McCain Hope drawing on: October 05, 2008 05:22:16 PM
It seems appropriate to link to the original artist's work in this case, as this is a fairly direct reinterpretation of a design by Shepard Fairey.

It doesn't look like Fairey has a website, so here's a link directly to his image, instead:

As much time and love as you've put into this recreation, Fairey put a lot of time into the design too and deserves a mention!

Thank you!
The pendants are little pieces of heavy watercolor paper sandwiched into a metal frame for a stability.
They're actually shown a little larger than they are in real life

Hi Guys,
I just finished these watercolored pendants and was really pleased with them so I wanted to share!

Octopus (2x2 inches):

Nautilus (1.5x1.5 inches):

TOTALLY RAD diamond and rainbows (1.5x2.5 inches):

Evergreen (1x2 inches):

These took so much time to make, but I love them!!
They are so therapeutic to make, too. It's so satisfying to get my hands busy after a long day back in front of a computer!!

Each is sealed with a coat of clear lacquer to keep the colors bright and help make them a little more water resistant.

Thanks for looking, sweet dreams :-)
