1  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Re: Pretty pretty mirror on: June 25, 2012 07:00:13 PM
It is very pretty.  I may have to pin this for when DD and DS finally get their own rooms.  My daughter would adore this in pink. ;-)
2  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / I want to make this. I need to learn how to crochet first. Where to start??? on: April 12, 2012 08:36:25 AM
I pinned this the other day and a friend said if I ever made it, he'd buy it. Well, said friend is expecting a baby in July, so I thought BINGO! perfect reason to finally learn how to crochet. It would be a rocking baby gift!  Go me for picking something simple, right?  Wink

I don't expect to have it finish in July, but am making Christmas my goal.

It says it is Tunisian crochet.  Is that where I should start or do I need to learn a different stitch first?

At this point I have zero experience with crochet. Smiley My mom gave me a hook and a ball of yarn, but I can't even tell you what size the hook is...
3  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Using fabric "book panels" in adult clothing? on: March 01, 2012 10:27:05 AM
I L-O-V-E these Lorax panels (and coordinated fabrics).  Love.  I want them.  I want to make them into clothing.  Any ideas?

I'm a grownup (sorta) and work at a very big tech company.  The atmosphere is really laid back and most of the men come to work in jeans and tees.  Some of the ladies try to class it up a bit, but it's still very casual.  Grin  So I pretty much have free reign to wear fun and quirky clothes, should I so desire.

Looking for items that aren't going to be impossible to make, as I'm very new to sewing clothes, and would look good on a "real" figured woman, lol.   Roll Eyes

Stunning! Totally hit "this rocks"! Grin
5  CLOTHING / Shoes: Completed Projects / Re: Step Right Up!! on: December 11, 2011 07:47:30 PM
Sooo neat. DD would adore them and I think I would too!!

How did you do all the embellishments? They are so beautiful.  Did you sew onto the shoes?
6  CLOTHING / Shoes: Completed Projects / Re: Free People Knock-Off Cowboy Booties on: December 11, 2011 07:41:40 PM
Pretty sure I've commented here before, but this post has revitalized my lust for boots. (Thanks a lot, I thought that was a habit I'd kicked!  Grin)

For all you fashionistas, what would you wear with these?

I'm only 29, but soooo out of touch with fashion.  I've been in "mom mode" for the past few years and live on jeans and tees.  Might be getting a really sweet job soon, but everyone dresses casual, so thought maybe these could fit in.  For my interview I wore slacks, a sweater, short heeled boots and I was TOTALLY overdressed, lol.

We're in Boston, so western isn't a big thing here, but these are just sooooo delicious.  I agree that OPs are way better than the original. I think I'd want to punk mine up a bit too. Wink
7  SEWING IN GENERAL / Machine Embroidery: Completed Projects / Re: Little Crayon Roll on: November 30, 2011 01:55:28 PM
That is just darling! For those who decide to make these to donate, keep an eye on the drugstore sale papers. I was able to get 3 coloring notepads for $1 for DDs preK class. They had all sorts of popular characters like Disney, Dora, Charlie Brown and My Little Ponies. Plenty for boys and girls.

I plan to download your instructions as soon as I register. Smiley

Thanks for sharing!!
8  QUILTING / Quilting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Help with mug rug specifics? on: November 20, 2011 05:28:48 PM
Went to Joanns today with a 60% off coupon and bought myself a little bundle of squares and 1/4 yard of clearance fabric (the bigger piece pictured). Cost me less than $5.50!! But I do think I will need to go back and get more of the clearance fabric.  Roll Eyes  Plan on getting the batting next weekend when it is 50% off and payday! I know there will be 50% off coupons between now and end of December, so even if I decide not to fight the holiday hordes, I will get it cheaply.  The package I need is only 8.99 normal price.  Smiley

After much deliberation I settled on these bundle of blue.  There were 6 other stacks I liked too, but these won out for some reason.  My tastes were all over the map, decided this wasn't too garish or girly.  According to the sticker I have 6 squares measuring 18 x 21 each.  The camera washed out the color a bit, they are actually very pretty!

Does anyone have any simple designs they think would fit these fabrics?  I like the one with the spoon pocket, but found a huge list on tip nut too and they are all just so cute.  I'm pretty new to sewing and have never quilted, so looking for easy, peasey!

In case you haven't realized yet...I'm the type who needs instructions! Not good at all at working off the cuff, at least not yet. Maybe someday I'll get there!

Looking online at batting and whoa there's a ton of stuff!

Is this something like I would need? http://www.joann.com/joann/catalog/productdetail.jsp?pageName=search&flag=true&PRODID=prd36873

Ah, actually, found the exact thing you described (I think): http://www.joann.com/joann/catalog/productdetail.jsp?pageName=search&flag=true&PRODID=prd2776

Just wondering what the difference is? I saw several other products listed as crib/craft batting.
10  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Re: Cameo Necklaces Doll tiny painting on: November 19, 2011 03:30:46 PM
Those are exquisite.  I wish I had the money and opportunity in which to wear such a piece.  They are truly lovely and unique.  Smiley
