1  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Re: Wedding Ring Quilt OR The Blanket That Ate My Summer Vacation on: August 03, 2012 10:28:51 AM
Nice quilt!  That's a huge amount of work, and it turned out really well!  I'm sure your friend will love it especially since you replicated her wedding colours.

Another option for blocking is steam blocking.  I often do this.... You just set your iron on low so you don't melt the yarn, and you blast the project with steam.  I give my project a little tug as I work on it so that the stitched relax and stretch out.  I find that it helps my piece grow in size, especially if it's acrylic.  Its a good idea to have a damp tea towel between the iron and the yarn so that it won't melt, and just to be safe I always iron on the back of the work.

Again, beautiful blanket!

2  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Re: Degrassi Swap on: March 27, 2012 07:08:18 PM
There was a Degrassi swap a few years ago so you could check the gallery for ideas.  I was in that one and received some awesome crocheted dolls of Arthur and Yick.  Since I did that one, I won't be joining this one.  But now you've got me curious titaniumhip - which character was your friend's cousin (or cousin's friend.. can't remember what you wrote)?

I'll definitely follow along with this swap to see what everyone comes up with.  Degrassi is the best!

Those are fantastic!  You must be really patient.

I recognized the tenth kingdom image right away.  Great GREAT movie, and you captured it perfectly!
4  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Ecstatic about Eclipse Gallery on: September 15, 2010 05:13:40 PM
So Canada Post's website finally says that Boo Zombie received her package.  Apparently it was stuck in Australia's customs.  Boo must be away on vacation or something though because I haven't heard from her, but I'm going to assume it's okay for me to post photos of what I sent.  My pictures aren't great but here they are.

Large:  Bella's mittens

Medium:  a bear bag.  This is a bit of a stretch....Emmett is her favourite character, and his favourite food is grizzly bears...so this is a grizzly that he drained of blood and I turned it into a little bag for Boo Zombie to keep stuff in.  He even has little blood drops on his neck like from vampire fangs (even though the Cullens don't have fangs).

Medium: coasters and apple candle holder
These have photos of the three main characters and a quote from each character from Eclipse glass etched on top.

Small:  Dazzle Cream

Extras
5  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: twilight: Ecstatic about Eclipse on: August 11, 2010 08:17:13 AM
I'm glad to hear someone received one of my packages!

I forgot to include a letter, I was in such a rush to get it mailed.  Here's what I would have written:
- the hat is inspired by Bella's hat in Eclipse (I'm sure she realized that)
- the pillow cases are so she can make a choice just like Bella between being a vampire girl or a wolf girl, depending on which one she uses.  Also, maybe they'll give her exciting dreams like Bella's.
- the dazzle cream is so she can sparkle like a newborn
- the mirror is so that every day Edward can tell her how special she is.  I figured that's a good message for any young girl.
The extras were just because they were cool.
I'm glad she liked it!

Now it's just boo-zombie to receive.  I just checked the tracking number online and it says it's somewhere between Australia and Canada still.  Grrrr.  I never knew it could take this long!
6  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Re: Jasmine doll on: August 04, 2010 08:35:53 PM
I love love love Princess Jasmine and have a collection of Jasmine dolls on a shelf in my room (much to my husband's dismay) and I LOVE your little Jasmine doll.  Great job!  I think she's perfect the way she is.
7  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: twilight: Ecstatic about Eclipse on: July 27, 2010 03:41:12 PM
I sent to Alchemy this afternoon.  Will PM the tracking number later this evening when I have more time at the computer.

I asked the post office again today how long it takes to ship to Australia and they said it could be 2 months so unfortunately that means more waiting for BooZombie.  Sorry! Sad

I think I'll be ready to send out my angel package by Monday (Tuesday at the latest).  I'm going camping this weekend so I can't do a ton of crafting over the weekend but I'm mostly done everything but the large.  Just wanted to update y'all.

I just checked the tracking number and apparently it left canada on June 30.  Why they took two weeks just to get it out of Canada I have no idea.  We're big but not that big.  The woman on the phone said it could be the end of July.  I hope it doesn't get stopped at customs!  I listed everything on the customs form so they wouldn't get suspicious.
