1  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Wedding Swap Gallery on: April 16, 2006 05:54:20 PM
Hello fellow Brides! Post your wedding goodies here.
2  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Weddings and Bridal Showers / The Crafty Wedding Craftalong! on: April 09, 2006 08:18:05 AM
When we started the Wedding Swap, pibbgirl suggested a craftalong as well.
I figured, instead of themed months, we could do a list/pictures sort of craftalong.
First, post a list of all the things you need to craft, then, post pictures as you finish them.

Here's my list: (Our wedding is on July 29, 2006)

-Save the Date cards
-Hotel info/info about the city/informal invite to the BBQ the day after
-invitations and RSVP cards
-3 bead bouquets, 5 boutonnieres and 2 corsages
-jewelry for me and the bridesmaids
-tiara or headbandy thing for me
-2 Short n' Sweet lacy bolero things from the Happy Hooker
-some sort of lacy wrap for me
-my bridesmaids presents
We haven't decided what to do for our questbook yet, and our centrepieces are going to be easy board games like operation and Kerplunk, so we might decide to make platforms to display them on or something. The room we are in doesn't really need decorations, although I might get our parents to do pictures of us as kids and stuff, since they really want to be involved somehow.
3  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Teaching left-handed crochet? on: April 04, 2006 09:22:55 PM
I'm trying to teach a left-handed friend how to crochet, but I'm right handed. I checked out the list of books, and I had a couple of books that had diagrams for both.
What else helped you learn/teach left-handed crochet from a right-handed crocheter, or vice versa?
Does the mirror thing work?
I've been trying to use my left hand, which means that I go slow enough for her to follow, but it also means I get a little confused, too.
Any suggestions?
4  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Lace for beginners? on: March 16, 2006 12:16:59 PM
I really, really want to make some lace wraps for my wedding this summer, and there seem to be so many beautiful patterns, but I've never knit lace before.
Could you recommend some easy to learn lace patterns?  Could you recommend some really informative lace books? Where do you like to buy your lace yarn from?
5  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Finally, a use for those playing cards on: March 10, 2006 07:15:36 PM
I actually started making these for a friend who was married in Vegas this week.

I cut out the middle of one card, and with some creative taping and the plastic wrapping from a sticker package, I came up with these frames. I only use two cards for each frame, cause I use the cut-out middle as the stand in the back. I used aces for the frames I made for my friend.

...

Just as a note, I'm sure that by now we have all realized that the wedding planning stage is a very emotionally charged time. I just wanted to say that we should try and keep this as the fun and relaxing activity it is meant to be.(we haven't had any problems, or anything, it's just a reminder)

7  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Weddings and Bridal Showers / Displaying Centrepieces? on: February 12, 2006 09:48:13 PM
Hello,
My fiance and I are planning on having some games as centrepieces, things like Kerplunk, and Operation. The only thing I can't think of is how to display these games. I'm thinking that some of the games will need to be raised a bit. Any suggestions?
8  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Wedding Swap? on: February 09, 2006 09:34:21 PM
So, I'm getting married to a wonderful guy this summer, and it seems like there are a lot of other people planning on getting married sometime in the next year.
I thought a wedding swap would be a nice way to take a break from planning or fill in those wait times when you feel like you should be doing something, but you've checked your checklist 30 times and can't find anything.
Anyone else interested?
9  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Weddings and Bridal Showers / Save-the-Date's : Finished! on: February 06, 2006 01:11:40 PM
We're getting married in the city we met in, so almost everyone coming to our wedding will have to travel. I loved geek_patrol's magnets, http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=67180.0 We ordered from www.vistaprint.ca and chose one of their designs. The paper is from www.paper-source.com They were fantastic, and so, so helpful. We coudn't agree on any of the more 'elegant' ones, so we went for fun instead. Here are the cards!

We couldn't decide what to write on the inside either, we didn't want to repeat the info on the magnet, so after many, many rewrites that just didn't seem right, we chose:
Slap this baby on your fridge,
We're getting married
Saturday, July 29, 2006
And we want you to come!
Invitations to follow.

Maybe the invites will be a little more formal!   Wink
10  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Crafter's Choice book club on: January 24, 2006 08:52:33 AM
I just received a Crafter's Choice pamphlet. Whoa, is it ever tempting! I was just wondering if anyone had tried it. It seems to be a North American thing. The website for it is www.crafterschoice.com It seem to be like any book club or CD club. So, has anyone tried it? What did you think? Thanks!
