21  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: panta! (from a finnish pattern). on: April 05, 2006 02:35:07 PM
Thanks!
Lining it is a really good idea. I didn't even think of it. It's still a little too cold here to go out wearing just a Panta.
I used Twister from Cherry Tree Hill in Earth. It's the ball that lasts forever. I've made two pairs of arm warmers, and the Panta, and still have half of it left. I bought it here: http://www.yarnmarket.com/yarn/Cherry_Tree_Hill_Yarn-Twister_Yarn-1770.html
22  CITY GUIDES FOR CRAFTSTERS / CANADA / Re: Canada Bound on: April 05, 2006 02:26:12 PM
Where in Canada is she going? There are so many different climates in this country, it's crazy.
and
How long is she staying? Will she be there for at least a year, living through all 4 seasons?

I'm pretty far north, in Arviat, Nunavut and for the winter blizzards you need a really warm hat (ie. not lacy and pretty) and a good scarf. I'd have to say that fleece is my friend! Oh, and a jacket with a hood for sure. Some places can get pretty windy.
In the summer, long sleeves, long pants and socks in breathable materials are fantastic, because of all the bugs.

Here's my Panta.

It was my first increase/decrease project, I'm probably taking the whole step-by-step learning thing a little too seriously Tongue
24  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Teaching left-handed crochet? on: April 04, 2006 09:22:55 PM
I'm trying to teach a left-handed friend how to crochet, but I'm right handed. I checked out the list of books, and I had a couple of books that had diagrams for both.
What else helped you learn/teach left-handed crochet from a right-handed crocheter, or vice versa?
Does the mirror thing work?
I've been trying to use my left hand, which means that I go slow enough for her to follow, but it also means I get a little confused, too.
Any suggestions?

29  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Weddings and Bridal Showers / Re: Butterfly Theme weddings on: March 22, 2006 06:30:20 AM
I only haveone idea, which you may have thought of already, but you could put small beaded butterflies on wire stems and add them into your bouquet and other flower arrangements.
