1  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Re: 2 Gallons of Basil! on: November 01, 2006 10:32:03 AM
My garden yields more basil than I can handle, this method for freezing works really well.

Basil can be chopped and frozen with water in ice cube trays. This is an ideal way to preserve basil when using basil for dishes such as casseroles and pasta sauces. The whole ice cube can be added. Make sure you know how much you have frozen in each cube as you may need to add several!!

7  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Discussion and Questions / Help with washing. Please on: November 01, 2005 09:33:21 PM
Hello all,
I have some questions.
I am in dire need of some crafty advice. I just finished a embroidery portrait of Bette Davis and background for a school project. unfortunately (self taught) I used pencil as sketch marks. Can i hand wash the material in woolite? I bought woolite and thought I could wash it in cold water by hand but I spent so much time on this and I am afraid my thread might bleed.
Question#2: After(if the washing is OK) it is dry .. has anyone ever done a "wash" with watercolor or gauche on material? my grandmother use to do watercolor on material and I thought it might give the piece some depth since its for a non-traditional illustration piece.
I would greatly appreciate any advice! thank you so much.

Ale-8(1) is awesome. It's a little harder to find it up here(NKY). but when I drive down to the farm(OWENTON) its everywhere. I would look up bottlecap on this site. There are projects for earing's, belts, purses, picture frames etc etc.

Thanks for the advice. yeah, I had heard of the stitch and bitch book, but could not afford it. But i recently got it at my local library! I read the whole thing. Debbie Stoller is my idol! I started knitting the basic scarf she has in the book. It's going well but very awkward. I guess its just going to take time to get comfortable with the needles.
thanks again for the advice!  Smiley
