1  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / Re: best glass to metal glue for making microscope slide pins on: October 27, 2005 10:32:30 AM
You can glue metal to glass with an epoxy. That's the stuff at the hardware store that comes in two tubes and you mix it together and it sticks incredibly well.

Wow! Great design. That's very cool.

I took a couple silversmithing classes and now I'm hooked too. I just set up a little studio in the basement. The soldering definitely takes a lot of practice, I'm not too hot at it yet either.

Thanks! It's made of sterling silver, soldered not cast. I did a bezel setting around the glass and then hammered a thick piece of wire til it was flat and soldered it in a couple of places. I saw a piece in Montreal that was kind of similar that was a square piece of amber, so that's where I got the idea.

Here's a pic of my newest creation. I didn't make the glass, just the setting.

I've not posted a picture before, so I hope this works....

Never Mind! Didn't realize there was a big thread about it already!

There's also a quilt shop at the Essex Outlet Fair (where the Photo Garden used to be) and there's a new one in the village of Williston (not by the big box stores but in the actual village) It's just past the Northeast Fiber Arts place on the other side of the road.

Hey Melissa Amy.

I just signed up for the basic spinning class at the VT Sheep and Wool festival. Maybe I'll see you there.

Hi. I just signed up for this board. Seems like a great way to get inspiration. I live in Jeffersonville and work in Winooski.

I do patchwork, silversmithing, and a little knitting.
