3  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / superhero costume for friday on: October 16, 2006 10:55:20 AM
so... i work at a rock climbing gym, and we're having a halloween competition/ costume party this friday. the winner of the staff costume contest gets a day off with pay, and i really want to win!

i think i'm going to dress as a superhero, but i need help fashioning a costume. i have green striped capri leggings i'll probably wear, but i need help for on top.

any suggestions? i have a basic sewing machine, but i'm fairly new to sewing. i don't want to just do leggings - tshirt - cape. i know i have some tough competition ahead of me, and i need to astound people.

what do you think?
4  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Re: Chain link bracelet--crochet style on: October 16, 2006 10:51:04 AM
if you don't mind a noob asking, how did you do this?

did you just chain a few, link them, and then sc around?

your bracelet looks awesome and i would love to try it!
5  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Re: Tshirt pillows. on: October 11, 2006 12:26:49 PM
i just recently got my first sewing machine and have been churning out pillows from old t-shirts constantly. i haven't thought about selling them at all, but they are perfect for the holidays - they're useful, fun, relatively simple, and inexpensive. just find tshirts that are right for your friends and you're golden! vintage stores have a lot of great classics if you run out of your own.

the hardest part is finding the shirt to match the person.
6  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / slightly too large jeans on: September 23, 2006 11:35:20 PM
so i have this pair of jeans a friend got for me that are several sizes too big... i shrunk them as much as possible, but they still slide down without being opened. i love them, and i'd love to keep them in pants form. any suggestions about how to do that?

that's amazing! i'm trying to come up with some kind of witty frog-hop sock-hop type joke.

meanwhile, your frog is great!
8  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Donnie Darko Swap [SIGNUP - 12/30/05-01/13/06 SEND BY - 02/10/06] on: January 12, 2006 12:25:09 PM
The subject says sign-ups haven't ended yet but that last post says they have. I'm going to send my pm anyway- I hope there's still time. I would have signed up earlier, but I only just qualified to participate in swaps.
9  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Re: I can't knit but I can crochet (and vice versa!) swap? on: January 12, 2006 12:17:56 PM
For this kind of thing, a month is perfect. I've been struggling to learn to knit for a while now, but I've been crocheting like mad. I would love to swap with a knitter. I can't wait for this swap to begin.
10  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Re: Charlie Brown , Snooopy and The peanuts gang? on: January 12, 2006 12:15:54 PM
We neeeeeed to do this swap! I don't think I'm qualified to moderate yet because I'm still new and I only just qualified to participate in swaps. If there's a way that I could moderate this though, I would be eager to do it. If not I will happily participate. I'm obsessed with the Peanuts- until recently, a whole room in my house was dedicated to them.
