31  Re: A Jar of Mini Whimsies Swap Gallery in The Swap Gallery by lelila on: May 04, 2008 03:18:47 PM
Here's my fantastic jar from AbsurdAnnekuh!

Note the pretty resin star in my favorite color.  Cheesy

Other side (wow, this one is a really crappy picture... lol)

And then... the contents! WHEE!

buttons buttons buttons!  Buttons are like my favorite thing in the world.  I totally spazzed.  Also some Xmas patches and candies and crayons~

Then so much awesome fabric!  How totally freaking awesome is that green one with the flowers? I also love that blue and red one...

And the pièce de résistance: COMPUTER KEYS. omg.  I'm a total computer nerd, so I could hardly contain myself by this point.

And some of them came from an... Arabic? Maybe? keyboard.  Cool, huh?

So YAY!  I am way stoked about my jar of awesomeness.  HUZZAH ANNEKUH!  Grin Grin

32  stitch markers of awesomeness! (4 pics) in Knitting: Completed Projects by lelila on: March 23, 2008 04:59:53 PM
I just made my first set of stitch markers... woot!  They're so pretty... I made a full dozen of them, 11 + 1 bigger one to mark the beginning of rounds.  I'm pretty novice when it comes to beadworking and whatnot, so I'm particularly proud of them...

Full set!

33  Super-Rad Apron of Retro Goodness! (pic heavy!) in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by lelila on: January 08, 2008 10:56:15 AM
I made this for a swap... several months ago... but I totally fell in love with this apron!  I think it's my favorite sewn garment that I've made.

Ta-daa!  The main fabric was actually some kind of interior decorating fabric, and the trim is a slightly-sparkly corduroy.  And also, just so you know, corduroy makes a total mess all over your floor when you try to cut it.  I'm also totally OCD when it comes to lining up pockets...

I also embroidered a few of the flowers on the pocket.  My first real attempt at embroidery!

Action-shot!  Modeled by my lovely former-roommate, Merliquin.

And a bonus bum-shot, to show the extra-long ties.

It was very well received by my swap partner... it was really hard for me to let go of it, though.  I fell in love with it!

And my lovely little bonus... some adorable little cotton dishcloths!

35  jasper earring/necklace set in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by lelila on: November 07, 2007 08:30:22 AM
Hello, friends!

This is my first real foray into jewelry making... I've been dabbling in it a bit for the past month or so, but this was the first "real" set I've finished.  I'm not sure how I feel about the earrings... I think I'm going to remove the Asian charms from them, and just have the jasper.

Made of chips of jasper, small white-silver seed beads, and Asian charms.

What do you think?  Please, please give me criticism!  I'm still learning.  Should I take off the charms on the earrings?

I rec'd from xOxmanda today, and I'm in LOVE with my new scoodie!!!  She totally used my intense love of lime green... <3

Here's everything all together:

My beautiful SCOODIE!  And in front: every kind of tazo tea imaginable, an adorable little tin of "knitting girl" mints... that little ball thing contains the most beautiful lime green lace trim (I <3 it!!) and lastly a couple of pedicure foot scrubbies.

A closeup of my favorite detail:

The hood is removable!  So on not quite so cold days, I can go hoodless.  Ingenious, no?  Also the buttons attaching the hood are totally awesome.

And lastly... action shot!

Mmm... the green is so, so soft and fuzzy and comfy!  I want it to get colder (and... not so wet...) so I can wear it!

So to say the least, I'm a satisfied swapper.  Cheesy

37  aprons! (feat. vintage curtains and Darth Vader) (big pics!) in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by lelila on: September 26, 2007 06:19:40 AM
Because, honestly... who doesn't think of evil lords of the Sith while being domestic?

Alright, apron #1 I made for my roommate, Merliquin... it started life as some awesome old curtains we picked up at the thrift shop.

Apron #2 is reversible!  Let me tell you, I almost murdered Merliquin's sewing machine, sewing through all those layers with the ruffles...

Side A, frou frou goth: (pardon dusty mirror...)

Side B, Darth Vader!!:

Close up of the pocket, which features some lace over Vader's face...

Black-on-black is so hard to photograph... but in real life it's much easier to see those evil Vader eyes peeking out through the lace... a-heh.

So... yeah.  I've kind of been on an apron kick, it took all my self control to not make like ten more aprons yesterday... I mean honestly, what are two girls gonna do with seven aprons??...

Though I do have some obnoxious lime-green linen and equally obnoxious lime-green tassel-trim that might be calling my name...

38  Re: Cozy the World GALLERY! in The Swap Gallery by lelila on: April 23, 2007 11:57:36 AM
I received from Taloola!  It's FANTASTIC!  She sent me a cozy for my glasses, and a wonderful iPod cozy!

Glasses cozy... is the fabric not the cutest thing ever?  Bright green is my favorite color  Grin

My new iPod cover!  It fits it absolutely perfectly.  I guarantee that my iPod is going to be living in it's new skin for a very long time.  Grin  I can even access all the plugs on the bottom without removing the cover!  It's pretty much perfect.

I'm one happy swapper!  Grin

39  The cutest ugly skirt!! (couple o' piccies) in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by lelila on: March 11, 2007 04:39:09 PM
So I got this really, really obnoxious fabric.  I thought it was really pretty, but everyone else I showed it to thought it was really ugly.  It's a jersey knit with three different patterns on it.  I wish I'd taken a picture before I made the skirt, but here's how the fabric looks:

Most of the fabric was the white part, then the orange border and the little strip of purple, then another orange border and the blue for maybe 10 inches.  It was also dirt cheap.  I really liked the colors, but apparently this is not an aesthetically pleasing combination to most people...

Anyway, I decided this beautiful monstrosity must become a skirt!  I kind of based it off of the anticraft's petticoat skirt (http://www.theanticraft.com/archive/imbolc07/petticoat.htm) but I made it short.  I also messed up a LOT, and apparently I can't do ruffles to save my life, so my roommate (Merliquin to you all) helped me out a ton.  Like, pretty much all of it.  Anyway here it is!

Obligatory twirly shot.

This one shows the length better.  It comes to just below my knee.
