1  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Party Planning / Friday the 13th wedding party-ideas? on: October 07, 2006 08:53:26 AM
I've had this grand theme in my head all along but now that I'm actually starting to get the planning in order, it's less about the lucky 13 than it is halloween festivities...any ideas on how to steer, (slightly) away from the halloween part back to the lucky 13?

(ps, I'm getting married next Friday, the 13th, and just now starting the preparations...i work better under stress...)
2  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / help finding discontinued yarn? on: April 13, 2006 05:11:13 AM
So, I'm making the little ballet sweater and I thought I got enough yarn but, turns out, my math just isn't up to par.

I'm using Classic Elite, color # 2614, (a glorious super dark blue-green, dark teal colored yarn-soft and shiny!) and I'm running out and I just don't even want to pick up the needles again til I can find more.  I've searched and searched, gone to my LYS, checked everywhere I can think of online-and I cannot find that color.  2613 and 2615, yes but, no 2614.  I've even sent emails to yarn stores all over the country-only 2 have replied but, they don't have the color.

Anybody ever run into this and how did you fix it without frogging the project?  I LOVE LOVE LOVE this yarn and I just don't want to give up hope!  Any help would be greatly appreciated...
3  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / felting Icord and needle size...does it matter? on: January 18, 2006 01:45:57 PM
I made a little bag and I'm gonna felt it but, I was also going to make icord straps and went and left my size 10 dpns at home-I'm at work and i'm pretty darn impatient-I dont get off work for 2 hours-you think it'd hurt if i use my 8s for the straps?  sure it'll be smaller but, I'm a half assed kind of knitter...not really half-assed but an impatient one-(i still haven't made a hat that fits right cause I'm ready to end it already and put it on!!)

any thoughts?

thanks-
ashley

5  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / booga booga bag question... on: January 12, 2006 09:17:25 AM
i'm making the booga booga bag and it calls for 10 1/2, i'm thinking of using 11s but i'm lazy so i'd rather use 13s....you think it would be terribly distorted if i decided on the bigger ones instead?  i'm using the cascade 220-i did a comparison of the noro it calls for on yarndex.com and it looked similar enough... i dont want to double strand it and it calls for 3 skeins but i only have 2-and I'm doing stripes...what is the opinion, of the ever so knowing craftsters???

6  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Need help finding a pattern!!! on: January 11, 2006 03:14:50 PM
In the Vogue Knitting magazine, (Holiday 2005 issue) there's an ad for Alchemy Yarns, Rockstar Jacket-it says on the website the pattern is available and when I found it on the website it said the pattern isnt available--I LOVE this sweater and MUST find a way to make it!!!

Anybody have any idea where I can find the pattern?  Or if you go to the site is there anything I'm missing???

it's makun me crazy!!

7  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / 2 hanks of tweed? on: January 09, 2006 11:39:21 AM
I got 2 hanks of Classic Elite '03 Tweed, only 143 yards  (the color is 5957--the magnificent turquois-ee color:)

http://www.yarndex.com/yarn.cfm?yarn_id=605

And I have no earthly idea what I can do with them...I could always make a scarf or hat or something but I am sick to death of both of those...(all x-mas gifts!)  And I have no idea what would do these little beauties justice...any of you lovely crafty people have any idea what's good to use this yarn for?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

9  UNITED STATES / Oklahoma / OKC Knitters on myspace on: December 31, 2005 07:57:27 AM
I made a little group on myspace and I'm trying to get the word out... click if you're interested and/or on myspace- I would like to meet local area knitters and see about getting a stitch and bitch in this area-not having much luck here so, I figured I'd try and spread the word... (I'm a newbie to myspace and I haven't snazzied up the page yet but, we'll see if it's worth doing...)

10  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions / ideas on how to make picture frame f/scratch? on: December 10, 2005 06:48:37 AM
So, I always have these ideas of what i want to make but not the foggiest idea of how i could make them come to fruition-does anyone know how to make a picture frame or, more specifically, the glass part-like, what would be a good substitute for the glass-(i know it sounds so stupid but I don't have any glass tools or really, any glass for that matter...) I have plans for the rest, I could handle the  wood and decorations and what not but, just don't know what a sturdy, see through substitute would be for the picture part...any ideas would be appreciated-thanks!
