1  Dexter Premiere Party Planning in Party Planning by Lethargic on: August 04, 2009 08:53:02 AM
So I posted my cupcakes from my last premiere party over on the dessert section. But this year I want to go all out and theme the crap out of this party!  Cheesy

For those of you who don't know, Dexter is a TV series on Showtime about a serial killer that only kills other serial killers. It's an awesome show. http://www.sho.com/site/dexter/home.do It premieres September 27th! Yay!

I would love to hear about anyone else's Dexter parties or their ideas for future ones. Here are some ideas I had along with questions.

For decoration goes I thought I could drape plastic drop cloths or plastic wrap over the walls. I would love to do it all over the house and furniture but we will see how expensive and difficult that gets.  Roll Eyes I also am going to try and find some of that crime scene tape they have during Halloween and put that around in places. And maybe some framed blood spatter. That would obviously be very easy and inexpensive to make.

For tableware I'm thinking I want to get clear plastic plates and blood spatter them on the underside so you get the cool look without having paint in your food. haha But does anyone know what type of paint I should use for that? I want it to stick on there well and not rub off on peoples hands. Maybe just a paint that's maybe for plastic or something? Or should I go ahead and like spray a clear sealant over it too?

For the food I'm going Cuban! I'm going to make Cuban Midnight sandwiches. Maybe have some plantain and other chips. Not sure what else though, would love some ideas!

Still thinking about the dessert too. Here are the cupcakes I made for last year.

I made these for Halloween too so I don't want to make them again. But definitely some kind of cake. Maybe various severed body parts?

Ok I think that's it! I hope other people share my love for Dexter and share their awesome crafty ideas.  Grin

A close up of the t-shirt. I LOVE this. I think it looks so cool. Like brush stroke or something!

And here is an action shot of the scarf because she looks way better wearing my things than I do.  Cheesy Tongue

I love everything! I only wish it was winter so I could wear my scarf. Sad T-shirts however are my official summer clothing so woot! thanks Ma rut! Smiley

3  Re: Embroidery for my Spring: Apron! GALLERY ::: Send out 04/18 in The Swap Gallery by Lethargic on: April 27, 2009 09:32:21 AM
I received from barbolot today! Woo! Everything is so wonderful. It's perfect for me and she did an amazing job on the apron and needle book.

Here is everything together. She also wrapped it up all nicely in tissue and a ribbon with a note. But I got excited and forgot to take pictures of that. Roll Eyes

Reversible apron, Katamari needle book, rainbow star stickers, rainbow buttons, and buttons in various colors of the rainbows. Yay rainbows!  Cheesy

A close up of the wonderful embroidery.

They are so cute and the stitches are so fluid and pretty.

A close up of my extras.

The little katamari guy is so awesome. I love him!  Grin

Thanks so much barbolot! this was a great swap and I love everything.

4  Re: .:Undies Swap ~ Fave Themes:. in The Swap Gallery by Lethargic on: December 05, 2008 09:47:47 PM
Finally got around to taking pics. Sorry it took so long.  Undecided

The first theme Cocorific picked was cupcakes. Woo!

How freaking CUTE are these? Beautifully sewn on and detailed. I love them  Grin

And then she said she didn't know much about my other themes so she actually researched Stargate. Now THAT is dedication! She picked one of the characters she really liked and I love her too. She made the set to look like Vala's clothes.

Isn't that amazing? The collar piece ties up like a corset and is connected to the top. It's so freaking accurate to the picture it's amazing.

Thanks so much Cocorific, the pieces are wonderful! Wink

5  Re: Fill a stocking for my DOG in The Swap Gallery by Lethargic on: November 28, 2008 09:11:15 AM
Ok! I hope you guys are ready for tons of pictures! I tried to narrow it down to the best ones to show the great stuff and Kira enjoying them. Still ended up with way too many pictures.  Cheesy Roll Eyes

Kira knew this was for her and she wanted it open!

We opened it and took all the great things out. I tried to set it all up to take pictures. But she had another idea. Bad doggy!

An actual picture of all the goodies! A rainbow sweater, shirt with her initial on it, Doggy shampoo, 2 bags of treats, a leash, a little rope toy, a collar with her name on it, 2 crocheted balls, 2 other rope toys, some tennis balls, a fleece rope toy, and some more crocheted toys. and of course the stocking.  Smiley

The stocking itself.

Kira in her AWESOME rainbow sweater. So cute!

Kira in her fancy initial shirt.

Here are a couple of Kira enjoying her new toys.

Now THAT is a happy dog!

Thank you sooo much Marcusandila. The stocking and contents are great and Kira is still enjoying them. The tennis balls are all toast unfortunately, but everything else is holding up well.  Cheesy

6  Murdered Cupcakes (For the Dexter season premiere) in Dessert by Lethargic on: October 18, 2008 06:13:01 PM
I made these cupcakes a few weeks ago for the season premiere of the TV show Dexter. It's an awesome show on Showtime! For those of you who don't know, it is about a serial killer you can't help but like.

I made red velvet cupcakes (of course) to look like red flesh. Then I tinted plain butter cream frosting to look like skin. The knives are made out of melted and colored white chocolate I just piped onto some parchment paper in a knife-like shape and stuck in the fridge to harden. Once they were nice and solid I stabbed them into the fleshcakes and added a little of that horrible food decorators gel stuff to look like blood. Everyone really loved them and I might have to make them again for Halloween.

Hope you like! Cheesy

EDIT: New topic created for planning this year's season premiere party. http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=315860.0
