11  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Discussion and Questions / Animal pillowcase pattern? on: November 12, 2007 01:44:18 PM
I want to make some cherry stone pillows like this http://www.novanatural.com/s.nl/it.A/id.1855/.f as holiday gifts for the little ones in my life. I figure I'll make a round muslin form and fill it with cherry pits and sew that up, but I need to figure out how to make some roundish pillow case that is cute (and ideally easy to clean) to stick the cherry pit sack into. I'm a sewing novice, so I can't just wing it. Any suggestions?
12  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions / Sewing machine care? on: October 28, 2007 08:16:02 PM
I'm not sure exactly where to post this question, so I hope that here it ok....I've been "borrowing" my mother's sewing machine for the last couple of years and I am taking horrible care of it, I'm ashamed to say. I have never sewn prior to using her machine, and I honestly have no idea how to properly maintain it. I know I should be oiling things and cleaning lint from places, but I don't know how, what, or where. I also can't find the manual and I don't think that Mom knows what to do either. Are there any photo tutorials or something for machine maintenance? I have been unsuccessful in my online searches thus far....

13  FIBER ARTS / Felting: Discussion and Questions / Re: clover's Needle felting tool on: February 10, 2007 07:39:58 PM
I can't believe that HL has needlefelting items. I also can't believe that I JUST ordered a new multi needle tool off ebay last week because I can't for the life of me find where I put mine last month and I have a project I needed to finish. Now I want that cool locking one (2 little ones AND 2 kitties). So tell me, how can I justily having THREE multi needle tools?
14  FIBER ARTS / Felting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Tutorial: Wet-Felt Vessel on: February 10, 2007 07:19:28 PM
Wow...I am totally inspired. I think I have everything on-hand except balloons. I have a feeling a vessel is in my future. Do you mind me asking what type of wool any of you recommend for wet felting? I primarily needlefelt but have been branching out to wet felting, and I've heard mixed things about the kind of wool to use for the best results.
