1  UNITED STATES / North Carolina / leap of faith to Durham/ Raleigh on: April 13, 2012 08:12:35 AM
Hi
so... in 4 months I'll be moving across the pond (well, actually, across two ponds) from Israel to Durham, and I'll be studying in NC State.
I'm gonna need crafty friends and possibly a stitch 'n' bitch circle to make the move easier.
obviously, I'm a bit early here, but I guess this is sort of my stress-relieving technique... to know that some things are sorted.
so.... knitting circles? yarn stores? I wanna know all about them.
please

2  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Completed Projects / Re: Post your CRAFTY Tattoos! on: October 22, 2011 03:35:15 PM
Yeah, that tattooist is awesome. We sat down together and panned the whole thing.
Done by Amos at Moshe Elul Tattoos in Kiryat Haim, Haifa, Israel.

It's been a long time since I've posted *and* since I got this tattoo (this was my second, and I got 2 more since), but here goes:

it's embroidered into my arm, and it says 'make' - to remind myself to never stop making  - creating, doing, making a change.
4  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: endless possibilities necklace on: August 22, 2010 01:22:39 PM
I'm guessing you could knit it with one of those tiny 4- or 5- prong round knitting looms... seems less sanity-compromising than actually knitting with dpns.

pick the seed pods off and munch on them  Tongue (while they're still green. once they start becoming darker\reddish they aren't as yummy)

it looks a lot like something that grows as a weed here in Israel, a quick wiki-search proved the english name to be malva
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Malva

if it is that, the leaves are edible after a quick steaming, either filled like vine leaves or cabbage leaves, or cooked in water with tons of lemon juice...yum
(try looking for "hubeza" in traditional palestinian recipes)
as kids, we used to eat the tiny fruits of it (stripped from their outer leaves) whenever we passed a patch where they grew.
they are really low maintenance, being weeds.
I'd keep them  Smiley

8  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Craft for my Person of Choice Swap on: August 05, 2008 12:31:25 AM
so, here is the great package dbear sent my brother, Sa'ar.
he was ecstatic, and took most of the pictures himself (except for the ones with himself in them, of course)

a wonderful System of a Down messenger bag:

two crocheted hats (after watching Monty Python's Meaning of Life he came to the conclusion that he should wear hats more often):

a wonderful duct tape wallet with all kinds of sayings written in and on it:

a GREAT Jack Skellington (from the Nightmare Before Christmas) T-shirt, wich he wears the second it gets out of laundry (since thursday he already wore it  twice)

and last but by no means least, a CD:

which he loved

thank you so much, dbear,

and thank you MaxParadise for organizing this great swap!!![/color]
