11  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / knitty's kyoto on: November 09, 2004 09:58:13 AM
hi..
has anyone ever knit knitty's kyoto? at this link - http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEwinter03/PATTkyoto.html
i just got some nice cotton yarn (just in time for winter!) and i thought this might be a good use for it.
but i wanted to know if anyone has any advice or pictures...
or if anyone wants to start a knitalong - i can post there, too..
thanks,
elisha
12  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / guess what? a poncho... on: October 27, 2004 11:41:44 PM
i know, it's not such an original idea this season...but...i just finished a great poncho, and i love it!  Smiley
i used a pattern that required knitting on circs from the neck down...it was so easy. just starting with a circle and increasing all the way down. (kinda lika a raglan sweater) i love the shape and it is so cozy. i used this yummy peruvian wool yarn called 'ecological wool'. i could have added a hood or fringe, but i kept it simple.
the pics may be a bit dark, but i figured out how to use a remote for my camera!

13  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / felted fish on: July 04, 2004 12:03:37 AM
i finally finished 3 felted fish for my new nephew...
here is a picture of the first one before felting:
(sorry it's a little dark)

and here it is after felting:

here are all 3 little fishies:

i plan to hang them with fishing wire (ha, ha) over his crib or changing table - they came out a little bigger than i expected.
i got the pattern from knitter's stash - a beautiful book with a lot of great patterns. i modified the colors and designs on the fish.

14  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / felted kids slippers on: June 14, 2004 05:26:30 AM
my felting addiction is only growing in strength, and i just finished some slippers for my kids...
i got both patterns from fiber trends.
one pattern is for the clogs (modeled by my 1 1/2 year old boy)
and the other is for ballet slippers (modeled by my 3 year old daughter)
you might wonder how i have time to knit!  Roll Eyes

they are really easy patterns and use very little yarn.
15  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / any nice looking men's patterns? on: June 13, 2004 11:11:39 AM
Hi,
I have made knitted sweaters/hats/scarves/bags/slippers for everyone I know except for my husband (because he is incredibly picky...and because so many mens' patterns are...um...ugly).  Wink
does anyone have a suggestion for a sweater or vest or something using chunky wool? A free pattern would be good, or a pattern I could pay to download (I live FAR from any yarn stores).
I would really appreciate any suggestions!

By the way, does the 'boyfriend sweater' curse apply to those already wed?
thanks!
16  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / My First Sophie Bag on: June 08, 2004 11:36:35 PM
Hi,

I finished the Sophie Bag that I found at MagKnits:

http://www.magknits.com/warm04/patterns/sophie.htm

It was easy and fun. I used hand spun yarn that I found partly at my LYS (the rust color which felted a lot better), and the yellow I got at a yard sale (not such a great purchase, I guess).

Here are some pictures:

I made it for a friend, and now I'm not so sure I want to give it away...but I defintely plan to make more.
I recommend it!
17  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / i want to make one-piece baby suit on: April 22, 2004 12:45:21 AM
does anyone know where to find a pattern for a cute one-piece soft baby suit? you know, like maybe it has ears on top and looks like a bear or something snuggly? i want to make something for my sister's new baby (due in june) and i don't know the gender...
any suggestions?
thank you!
18  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / child's hat and scarf on: February 28, 2004 12:47:14 PM
hi,
I am new to this forum even though I have been knitting for a while. I love reading about and seeing pictures of all the great work you are all doing. I am attaching a picture of my daughter in a matching hat and scarf I knitted for her in very soft cashmerino.
she loves them!
