thanks, mrs. veghead! sorry for the delayed response, but we've been on the road for a summer vacation. i know what you mean about the waif-y look. we love food and life and health way too much for that!

oooh, you know me...i would FINISH THE SKIRT IN YELLOW. you are the epitome of patience, an example for the rest of us!

isearchtobelost, on the knitty website the pattern is adapted for many sizes, and i think the skirt would be flattering on all figures. (most of us are more curvaceous than my 6-year-old!)
yumichan, i really thought the pattern was very clear and easy to follow. not really any difficult steps. it looks intimidating because there is a chart, but when you look it over, you see that the chart is simple to follow. there is a knitalong in the knitalong section where people would answer questions.
and yes, it's beautiful here most of the year, if you like the heat. judging by your avatar, you live somewhere chilly? also my husband is addicted to gardening like i am addicting to knitting!

it looks amazing, optimism!!!!
scary how close you got with the green. seems as if you will finish today. i am very anxious to see the gorgeous girl dressed in her hand-knit wonder! (but more anxious to see all of you in person).

i finished the one i was making for my daughter. i posted pics in the completed section. this was honestly one of my favorite knitted projects. maybe it was the yummy yarn, maybe the gorgeous, fun and easy to follow instructions, or maybe it was knitting it with my sister-in-law for our daughters who will be so happy to wear these together! we will post pics here of the 2 of them in their almost matching skirts when they are reunited next month.

thanks everyone!
cherry blossom, she came out of her room with the whole outfit assembled like that (we just picked up the shoes yesterday 2nd hand for $1.50!) we love it, too. oh, and we love the kids a lot as well!  Cheesy
MaddiesMom, if you have any questions, let me know...we also have a knitalong in this forum where we voiced a lot of our confusion (although the pattern really is simple and clear).

thanks!
hi yogamomma, i used one skein each of 3 colors....then 1 plus a little more of the main color. i'm sure you will enjoy making it & the skirt will be so cute on a little one!

I am so excited. I finished what I think is my favorite pattern/item ever (and that's saying a lot since I've been knitting obsessively for about 5 years).
here is my lovely daughter equally excited.

and with her brother:

thanks to Gudrun and Knitty for this amazing pattern. By the way, I used the Hempathy (the suggested yarn) and knitted the size 6. I made it longer, though, following the chart for size 10.
