11  Re: New Stitch Diva Pattern/Glampyre sweater in Knitalongs by elisha on: August 18, 2006 02:27:42 PM
koshare, that looks beautiful! i love the color...(i also like that tile floor)

well, rtrgrrl, i actually decided just to stick with the purl rows...i have been 'experimenting' with the beads, and that was daring enough for that moment.
this is what i have so far...

i have had quite an adventure trying to figure out how to get tiny beads onto my yarn. the end result is that i strung them, spaced them and knotted them on a strong thread, and i have been carrying that thread along as i knit. it is SUPER time consuming, so i think i will have beads only on the purl rows, not the lace!
here is a close up, but it's hard to see the beads...

i got my yarn! it's the first time i browsed at WEBS, and i found a cone of 100% silk...for $26 including shipping...so i am casting on now. the color is a beautiful mustard (hard to tell from the picture)

i will see how it goes. i love the yarns you have all chosen...by the way, what sizes are people making? i can't decide between the small and medium. i am pretty average/small up top...i want it fitted, but not too tight...hmmm.  Huh

13  Sweater from Weekend Knitting in Knitting: Completed Projects by elisha on: December 12, 2005 07:12:32 AM
I finished the baby sweater in a cotton/linen yarn - the pattern calls for hemp. it was a really fun knit, and the directions were clear.
here is my sweetie modeling it.

she likes it!
a a closer picture to show the wood buttons i found for it:

14  another pinwheel blanket - with baby! in Knitting: Completed Projects by elisha on: October 02, 2005 05:55:31 PM
recently someone posted pictures and a link to the pattern for this pinwheel baby blanket...so i got started and finished just in time for my little girl to snuggle up in it (she is 2 weeks old)! it was very easy, and looks more complicated so i get a lot of compliments. i used a cotton variegated yarn (gender neutral colors) and made a crochet border...she loves it.
here's most of it:

here's how cuddly it (she) is:

here's a close-up of (her) the border...

i recently made the Pig-Tailed Dolly for a friend's little girl...
my daughter is 'modeling' it and wants one of her own. i found that it was really easy to make, but i didn't want to waste time knitting the doll and then the sweater...so i had to figure out how to make the doll with the sweater attached. it was a challenging problem, but i think it came out pretty well, and the girl loves it! i didn't have anything to stuff it with, so i used odds and ends from my yarn stash... Smiley
the pictures are a little dark, and for some reason i wanted to make the doll's face with grey yarn!

16  Purim Costumes in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by elisha on: March 31, 2005 04:20:47 AM
here are my homemade purim costumes for my kiddies...my daughter wore the Pooh costume for a whole day...and my son was Tigger for about an hour.   Cheesy
here's Pooh:

close up (with make-up):

and Tigger:

close up:

for the Pooh, i used a shirt and pants pattern i had made previously for my daughter. for the Tigger, I really just made it up as i went along, using a pair of pajamas as a model. the hats were the first i have ever made, and I completely winged it  Smiley

i finished the men's rustic scarf...it's from the 4-6 hour gifts section, and it took me about that - not bad! it was so simple. i made it for my father - he has so far invested the most money in my knitting 'habit' (he bought all my needles), and until now has nothing to show for it. i used this beautiful hand-dyed yarn from my LYS - definitely the best stuff they have there, but not so expensive. it comes from New Zealand in bulk, then someone local dyes it. the colors they have are gorgeous...these were, i thought, manly enough for dad!
me modeling it (i want to keep it)

20  Re: ballet-wrap top from Rebecca in Knitalongs by elisha on: January 19, 2005 11:20:17 PM
alright, here it is...
i guess i haven't posted a picture yet because my progress is so pathetic!
i have been working on so many other things, and sooo slowly plugging along.
i DO  like it though, and would love to have it finished!

i think it's about 1/3 the length it needs to be...so by next winter i will DEFINITELY be done!  Cheesy
