Wouldn't that be embarrassing to go into the hospital with a bleeding ear and have to explain something like you were playing with your dog and the dog whacked you in the head which shattered your plugs?

Actually, I can think of much more embarassing reasons to be in the er.  Grin

I love the ribbon also- how is it attached?

i just sort of poked holes and threaded it through. kind of ghetto, i know...
great  job  and  hey  wait  a minute I  like  those  shoes even  plain!! I am not old!!! LOL  those  are  great  nice  work!!!  and  Out siders  ar e  the  best!!!!!  that  movie  is a  classic!

well they used to have that weird elastic stuff over the top of the foot, but i cut it out. The only person I've ever seen actually wear the weird elasticy shoes was my great g-ma back in the day. Hence, I associate them with old ladies. lol

thanks to everyone for saying such nice things!

As far as ceramic plugs goes, I've heard there's a risk of them shattering in your ears.  I don't know how true that is, and of course they wouldn't just spontaneously errupt.  There would have to be some sort of impact.  I think I'll stick with stainless steel or some sort of organic plug and not take the chance of having tiny shards stuck inside my ears.  Eek.
tiegh

hmm, I actually hadn't thought of that. It seems the same risk would be present with glass plugs, but you see thouse everywhere. I'm going to be buying a set of Kaos software plugs for when I'm more active, but the idea of being able to make my own ornamental plugs has just about gotten the best of me.

Btw, I second checking out bme...i have wasted so much time on the site.

Take one pair of $2 old lady flats from walmart.
Add tons of embroidery floss you found in your mom's closet.

Combine over a period of a few hours while watching cheesy movies. Embellish with 50 cent ribbon. and...voila! These were completely freehanded and are the first thing I've ever embroidered that wasn't a counted crossstich from a kit. Yikes, that canvas is unbelievably hard to get a needle through. My finger tips are killing me!

You can't tell in the picture, but the sunset and lightning bolt and sunset are accented with gold thread. Thanks for looking!

I've been wondering. Why do you guys (guys in the non-gender-specific way  Wink ) stretch your ears?

Honestly, I'm only 17 and my mom won't let me get and "real" piercings, so stretching is like a snack to tide my over, lol. Plus I think it looks pretty cool.

I'm not sure why this is exactly, other than making teeny weenie ceramic plugs would be pretty labor intensive and kilns are expensive!

I've got use of a kiln at school so maybe I'll experiment some and see what I can come up with.
