1  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Party Planning / Hannah Montana Movie drive in party help on: May 15, 2009 07:05:44 AM
My daughter wants for her 10th birthday a drive in themed party.  Of course it has to be Hannah Montana themed also.  We do have a suprise but not nothing I can say over the internet.  Her birthday is June 23rd, so we try todo what we can outside.  Everything has to be in pink, purple, teal and gold.  Which is Miley Cyrus' favorite colors.  For weeks now since I told my daughter about the suprise she has been searching for ideas and making plans with her brother.  She had already decided she wanted a drive-in movie theme.  Which by the way is her favorite place to go during the time they are open.

Here is what we have planned so far:
We are going to take our big screen tv outside in the driveway (garage if rainy)
My kids have been saving boxes to make car fronts (going to have guests bring pillows or blankets to sit on)
My 11yr old son is going to run a concession stand (this is the only way daughter is allowing him to attend her party) Which they have pretty much planned out he is going to take orders for personal pizza's as girls come then he will make them so they have them at the beginning of their movie, they also have a list of their favorite snacks that we take to the movies with us.  Popcorn, drinks, candy and such.
She always wants me to make her an icecream cake for her birthday, so I think that insted of making one that I would make icecream cupcakes in the silicone cupcake holders that way if they want it they can if not they don't have to.
Invites are going to be quitar shapes in the above colors with coresponding color boa feathers around edges.
I am going to make little tote bags in the colors and going to use boafeathers around top edge for goodie bags.  She wants me to make somesort of popstar necklaces and earrings to put in them.  We just don't know what else.

She wants to ask her aunt (my sister in law) to beg her to dress up as Hannah Montana (her idea not mine) to make a suprise appearance at her party.  Because she sorta looks like her and no one would know but us and her cousin.

Our big problem is how to decorate.  She does want a guitar pinata but not to break so that she can keep it in her room.  And it has to be purple.  So that will have to be made I am thinking of doing a string and just let her pull it open.  Also things to put in the goodie bags.

2  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Boogalou Bob(5 pics) on: May 14, 2009 06:30:34 AM
Here is Boogalou Bob the Football Player Poppet.  I had made him for myself but my 11yr old son stole him from me.  He also named him.  I have always called my son Boogalou and my kids have this thing with Bob lately so the name came about.  My 9yr old daughter took Bob to cheerleading practice with her last night and he was a hit with the cheerleaders.  He was made from tan flanel, his hair is brown wool felt sewn on in strips and then cut.  His pants are the exact color as my sons football pants, the shirt is a little different.  I am going to have to work on clothes for the poppets due to the size I just can't get them the way I want.  But for him it is fine because I would like to make football pads for him anyways will get to it soon.  Now all he needs is a cheerleader which he will soon have.  Anyways here is Boogalou Bob.
First off sporting my real football players number

With Helmet on

Holding helmet in his lap (this is how he is sitting on my sons shelf)

Back view of shirt.  It isn't actually folded like that I just didn't fix it for the pic.

Finally next to a picture of my real football player which is where I wanted to put Bob but of course anything mom wants gets vetoed in this house.  Oh well at least he is loved.
3  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Completed Projects / Trying to post these again on: March 30, 2009 05:36:09 AM
These are two of the first things I made with polymer clay neither are very good but my two boys love them

This first one is Otto the Orange I made for my 12yr old for his love of Syracuse basketball

This one was actually the first thing that I did for my 10yr old which is now in it's place of honor on his shelf next to last years football trophy.  You can see the wire with this close up picture but looking at it you really can't see it.  Oh well he loves it anyways
