1  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Weddings and Bridal Showers / DIY Tote Bag Idea - Bridal Party Favor on: March 05, 2006 02:03:56 PM
To start off, this isn't their present by itself... it's going to be stuffed with all different kinds of things.

Okay... how good would this work out?

Old Navy has cute tote bags... but I was wondering, how great would my idea actually work out?

To me, that structure of it looks kind of like a pillow with the same kind of fabric handles attached to it. However, the usual fabric made for a pillow wouldn't look too good with stuff stuffed into it...

So...
What if... I went to the craft store, purchased paints, sponges, and fabric and made them?

My future sister inlaw on my family's side (brothers fiance) received one for her birthday, and she never goes anywhere without it. The material used for it is like a thick cotton.

I know how to sow, and fortunatly inherited my mother and her mothers creativity, so, these would be really easy for me to do, but...

What do you think?

Also, for my mom, future mother-in-law and other future sister-in-law, I would purchase a different bag since their style's different, and for each bag they'll most likely be made in different colors (the girls favorite color), and have a different design on it, a different bag for each girl.

I think you could totally decorate a Winter Wonderland on a limited budget and make it really amazing.

It makes me think of something frosty and glittery and elegant.

Is this party for adults or children? Is it being held at home? banquet hall? office party? More details would be great!
It's somewhat a family party... but mainly kids from ages 14 to adults ages 40ish
There will be a few small tots there, and a few old ones too... so, I'd have to say, mainly a family affair

It's being held at my church in the sanctuary

Hot Potatoe
Guess How Many (jar filled with stuff, guess the number of the items in the jar)
Charades
Pictionary
Freeze (stay still when lights are turned on)
Duck Duck Goose
Wits and Consequences

Blow up balloons with questions, written on strips of paper, inside and place balloons in Bag "A". Let each guest reach in and pull out a balloon on their turn. If they answer correctly they stay in the game for another 'round, if they answer incorrectly they pull a balloon out of Bag "B", pop it and have to do what it says..."Rub your tummy and pat your head at the same time", "Strut and cluck like a chicken three times". If they complete their task they can return to the game. If not they can cheer on the remaining players. When all the questions have been answered the games over.

Make sure to carefully clean up the balloon remains, as they are choke hazards for young children.

This years Christmas party's theme is going to be, "Winter Wonderland"
It was originally going to be "Santa's Workshop", but, since it's a Church Christmas party, we figured some people might be offended by it since Santa "takes away" from Jesus.

Anyway, thing is, Santa's Workshop was extremely easy to do, but, Winter Wonderland isn't as easy.

Does anyone have any ideas for Winter Wonderland?
I have a few, but, I want to go all out but on a budget.

Thank You.

My brothers girlfriend and I are dressing up as Elves/Santa's Little Helpers for this years Christmas party...
how exactly do you make those shoes? Like, did you paint them, what type of glue did you use, etc

My friend is obsessed with penguins, so, I was thinking about making her "Penguin In A Box" for her birthday

Does anyone have any ideas?
7  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Party Planning / Penguin Decoration... Help please on: November 08, 2005 02:01:27 PM
One of my friends and I are having a joined 20th B-day party...
The theme is "Rock Star"...
I'm making her her cake, and, I want it to haveit decorated with stars and a huge penguin on it since she loves penguins.
I'm going to create the stars by making star shaped sugar cookes, then frosting them with gold frosting...
But, I'm still trying to figure out how the heck to make the penguin. It doesn't have to be edible, just big and sefe enough to put on top of a cake (so, not a stuffed animal or anything).

Can anyone help?

That is what I want the cake to look like

this picture is what I'm using to try to get an idea of how to create the penguin

For christmas presents to three of my cousins, I'm redecorating their room...

for one of them, I'm using tons of pictures/art/etc...
She adores the show The Girls Next Door (about Hugh Heff's girlfriends), and so I'm making her a room kind of like one of his girlfriend's rooms, but I'm adding a touch of Paris (the city) to it. So, there's TONS of pictures/art/posters that I'm putting up... in her room, I'm going to make a border right below the ceiling of pictures. They're going to all be bordered with pink as if they're framed, but, they really won't be... anyway, soo

an idea could be to make a wall border out of the pictures, or, make a collage wall using the pictures
9  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage / Re: "_____ in a box" gift ideas. on: November 01, 2005 03:07:47 AM
Every year (well, for the past two years), my mom and I have done gift baskests for the people we give gifts to...
I think I want to do the "______ in a box" this year, that way, I can get boxed, decopage the boxes and then tie them with ribbon...

For my mother-in law: I want to do "Pamper In A Box".  I've got the idea (thanks to those that posted before me) to put in a bottle of wine, a
R&B cd, 2 wine glasses, a small box of godiva chocolates, house shoes, a robe, bubble bath and body lotion... any other ideas?

For my 2yr old step daughter: I want to do "Princess In A Box"... I really have no idea for that, except add a tiara, dress-up clothes and a "princess" wand,
a stuffed animal frog, a disney princess coloring book, a t-shirt that says, "I'm A Princess" on it...

For my best friend: I want to give her a "Pamper In A Box"... only without the wine, robe and house shoes... to make up for it, a big box of
Godiva and a pair of earrings

Mom: Pamper In A Box... there's a ring from James Avery that she's been wanting, so, that, plus bubble bath, godiva chocolates, earrings...

Dad: Not quite sure yet...

Brothers: not quite sure yet, two of them are 26, the other's 25... they're computer geeks yet metrosexuals at the same time...

My Cousin Brittany: I wasn't sure at first, but, she loves "The Girls Next Door", the series about Hugh Heffners girlfriends, so, I was thinking about
getting her a small box of Godiva, a white teddy bear, a feather boa, Victoria's Secret Sash.... not sure what else, but, I want it to
be kind of girly but flirty at the same time
My Cousin Liz: okay, I really have no clue, I was thinking along the lines of Glamourous Rockstar/Hollywood, but, nothing too kidish...

My fiance: okay, he likes street bikes, Fords, mustangs (especially 5.0's), old ford trucks, cars in general... he's a pretty boy (likes to dress nice,
etc), and Sponge Bob (he loves sponge bob)...

Can anyone give me any ideas on what to do or what to add?
Thank you for your time
