1  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Hot Pink Patchwork Twirler on: October 17, 2007 02:04:57 PM
I have been so inspired by all of you ladies on here and I just have to share what I made for my daughter based on Vegbee's tut

Of course when I took the pics, I hadn't finished it, the bottom isn't hemmed...

Electronics work as bribery at our house Smiley

I lined the top with the large floral print, which I was happy with, but I mis-measured (I can't imagine why with a wiggle worm for a model??) so I made pleats on the front

And she had to "pose" of course

She loves twirling in it, so much that it was hard to get pics Smiley  Thanks for all the inspiration and for inspiring me to save up for a better sewing machine (hoping Santa might bring me one this year!)

2  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Susse sacs (aka sube sacs, Se Sacs, Sweet Sacs) :) on: June 19, 2007 07:02:07 PM
I saw Dyabolica's great tut on these Se Sacs and fell in love.
***ETA*** here is a link to her original post, whoops! http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=165507.0

Being lazy, like I am, I did not make the patchwork, but they are just about as cute, if I do say so myself.

All in all, each only took about 1 hour to make (probably would've been less but my 3 year old monkey, I mean child, was running about and sitting on my lap most of the time!)

This one is made from some leftover large napkins I had found on clearance last year.  I love the fruit!

This one I gave to a friend who just just found out she got her first job teaching after finishing college!  Yeah for teachers Smiley

Button detail (I made it myself, is it wrong to be so in love with button making?!?! If it is, then I don't wanna be right!)

Another lovely

And my favorite (which of couse was the most difficult b/c the vinyl kept sticking when I was trying to topstitch)

Two girls my mom works with have requested I make them one each and some of the teachers from my friend's new school are thinking about ordering as well!  They are so awesomely easy and people really think they are cute!  I've been doing my happy dance since I started making them Smiley
3  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Scrapbooking: Completed Projects / Daddy Wordbloom or Word Bloom on: June 19, 2007 06:51:13 PM
I have seen these posted on several scrapbooking sites and got inspired for father's day.

I of course, did not finish it until today, but he loved it anyhow Smiley
I used my craftrobo to cut it out and am pretty happy with the results.

I'm planning on adding a few doo-dads to the front and a few of the pages, but you get the idea Smiley

Let me know what you all think!!
4  CRAFTING FOR GOOD AND NOT EVIL / Crafty Charitable/Social Causes / Organizing a "Crop for a Cure" on: March 08, 2006 07:48:22 PM
I am participating in a Relay for Life in our hometown for the first time this year.  We are planning on hosting a crop as a fundraiser.  I'm totally excited to do it but it seems a bit overwhelming.

So far we have a location, a local elementary school cafeteria (lots of space, lots of tables) and a local scrapbooking store has agreed to come and sell items, maybe offer a make and take.

I am planning on asking local restaraunts for food and drinks and maybe a massage therapist to come and give 5 minute massages for a donation?  We also are going to have doorprizes.

Has anyone done an event like this before?  Any ideas/suggestions?  Things to avoid?  Things that are a must?

Since it's at the school, we want to invite students as well.  Do you think it would put anyone off to say that all minors must be accompanied by an adult at all times?

TIA for any advice you all have to offer!

5  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Eduardo onesie on: February 03, 2006 08:17:43 PM
I've been inspired by fellow Foster's fans on here to make a felt applique of Eduardo and put it on a onsie for my daughter.  I think I'll be saving it for her birthday in a few months, hopefully she'll grow into it a bit more the thing is huge!

Hope you all like  and remember NO MEANIES!!

6  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / My Why bags - Jordy with Pics on the front on: February 02, 2006 11:10:25 PM
I'm still pretty much a newbie but I was inspired by several posts, including the jordy and another that had a photo printed on fabric (can't find it now for the life of me).  The two came together as gifts for my husband's co-workers. (also had to make one for my mom with my daughter on it, but I can't find the pics right now)  Sorry about the black bars, but since they aren't my kiddos, felt kinda funny posting them on the web, so they are incognito Smiley

hope I posted these pics right!  I would really appreciate any feedback.  I included a tag that says "My Why" on it and a poem on the tag that goes as follows:

"What you mean to me,
Words cannot describe.
Thats why I like to keep you,
Close here by my side.

And so Ill carry you always with me,
Beneath the sun, the clouds, and sky.
Proudly showing you to the world,
Because YOU are MY WHY!"

Cheesey yes, but I think they liked it.  My mom ate it up, she loves anything with her grandbaby on it Smiley

Two girlfriends have "ordered" bags for family members.  I'm not sure what to charge?  Materials cost me about $15 roughly.  Do you think it would be worth pursuing selling these and other similarly personalized items? My hubby already has a website set up, but I'm not sure if it's going to be worth it.

Help!

7  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Screen Printing: Completed Projects / baby bag on: September 12, 2005 07:04:13 AM
***ETA***  here's a direct link to the picture, not sure how to get it to work on here...

http://www.beforethefallband.com/babyjbag.jpg

This is my first posted project, so please be gentle...

I was inspired by the other projects posted in this area using the embroidery hoop and made this purse for my mom a few months ago.

I saw a similar "celebrity bag" posted on another board and my jaw dropped when I saw their price of $295!!
http://www.shoploveme.com/product.asp?PROD=1633

Of course, mine is a vinyl bag from Target and screen printed, not leather like theirs, but do you all have any feedback about this possibly being something to try to sell locally for me?

Thanks for checking out my post!

8  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Party Planning / Long distance baby shower? on: September 11, 2005 10:46:29 AM
ok, so I'm a long time lurker, first time poster and I'm not even sure if anyone has ever even done this before....

Has anyone ever given a long distance baby shower?  any shower or party of any kind?  My soon-to-be sister-in-law is due in January with their first baby.  Unfortunately, they are in Germany and we are in the states.  They have been together for over 10 years and we couldn't be happier for them.  I really want to do something special for her, but all I can think of is just boxing up all of my gifts for them.  Pretty boring.

I know you all come up with the kitschy-est of suggestions and this is the best place I can get some good ideas!!

Please help a desperate Auntie-to-be!

TIA
