51  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Re: Eduardo onesie on: February 04, 2006 10:44:22 PM
Thank you everyone for the compliments Smiley   We <3 Eduardo too!

awesome! But I have a question ...If you make an applique out of felt ( I assume the $.20 one from walmart) can you wash it?

Yes it is the $.20 felt from walmart... but for washing, I'm not sure how it will end up??  I'm a little nervous about it getting ruined.  Maybe someone else has some experience with store-purchased felt?  I used Aieleen's fabric glue, which says it's washable. I'll post after we wash it the first time.  Please post if you make one too!
52  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Re: My Why bags - Jordy with Pics on the front on: February 04, 2006 10:40:03 AM
THANK YOU so much!  You don't even know how much it means to me to get such positive feedback from everyone here.  I really value what you all have said.
I'm thinking we'll go forward with the website, just have to figure if I should make the purses ahead, then sew on the pics, or wait for orders to start sewing.  I'm so excited to have something that is well received!  I seriously am dancing around happy Smiley

Thanks again!

I've been inspired by fellow Foster's fans on here to make a felt applique of Eduardo and put it on a onsie for my daughter.  I think I'll be saving it for her birthday in a few months, hopefully she'll grow into it a bit more the thing is huge!

Hope you all like  and remember NO MEANIES!!

thanks for looking

Great bag Smiley  I love LOVE LOVE that fabric!  Do you mind sharing where you got it at?  I'd be so happy if I could get my hands on some!

I'm still pretty much a newbie but I was inspired by several posts, including the jordy and another that had a photo printed on fabric (can't find it now for the life of me).  The two came together as gifts for my husband's co-workers. (also had to make one for my mom with my daughter on it, but I can't find the pics right now)  Sorry about the black bars, but since they aren't my kiddos, felt kinda funny posting them on the web, so they are incognito Smiley

hope I posted these pics right!  I would really appreciate any feedback.  I included a tag that says "My Why" on it and a poem on the tag that goes as follows:

"What you mean to me,
Words cannot describe.
Thats why I like to keep you,
Close here by my side.

And so Ill carry you always with me,
Beneath the sun, the clouds, and sky.
Proudly showing you to the world,
Because YOU are MY WHY!"

Cheesey yes, but I think they liked it.  My mom ate it up, she loves anything with her grandbaby on it Smiley

Two girlfriends have "ordered" bags for family members.  I'm not sure what to charge?  Materials cost me about $15 roughly.  Do you think it would be worth pursuing selling these and other similarly personalized items? My hubby already has a website set up, but I'm not sure if it's going to be worth it.

Hello! This is my first post and I just wanted to say hi to all the crafty people in the dayton area. I'm a seamstress and I knit and do other random crafty things. I live in West Carollton, and I've been to most of the craft stores in the dayton area.

Centerville has several independent yarn shops I like to visit when I've got some extra pocket money. They are building dayton's first Joann ETC store in the old kmart place on 725 east of the dayton mall.

There is a craft mall/ year-round craft show in miamisburg on alex rd a block north of 725 that has not been mentioned on this thread. Anyone intested in sharing a booth? I am. Email me... beep83 AT hotmail DOT com.

Also, Marcos papers in centerville is a fun place. I've got a friend who teaches classes there but I've never attanded one myself.

For scrapbookers... Cord Camera and Scrapbook Studio opened a little while back right next to michaels on 741/springboro pike across from the dayton mall. They have a huge clearance paper selection. *drool*

Til next time... Saralynne

I'm interested in finding out more about the craft mall that you mentioned also.  I'm in the Dayton area and have been considering doing something like this too.

I don't think it's been mentioned yet, but there is a craft mall/store similar to what you described in Huber Heights called the Copper Horse.  My friend lives near there and found out they charge a minimum of $60 a month for a booth.  A little too pricey for us, since I have no clue if we'd sell anything near that.  I'm hopinig to find a place to consign.  They have some cute things in there from time to time.  Plus it's right next to a Goodwill.  Has anyone had much experience selling things locally?  Maybe I've missed that thread too!

I've been on craftster a while, don't know why I never noticed the "local" boards before!!  Glad to meet all of you!
57  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Screen Printing: Completed Projects / baby bag on: September 12, 2005 07:04:13 AM
***ETA***  here's a direct link to the picture, not sure how to get it to work on here...

This is my first posted project, so please be gentle...

I was inspired by the other projects posted in this area using the embroidery hoop and made this purse for my mom a few months ago.

I saw a similar "celebrity bag" posted on another board and my jaw dropped when I saw their price of $295!!

Of course, mine is a vinyl bag from Target and screen printed, not leather like theirs, but do you all have any feedback about this possibly being something to try to sell locally for me?

Thanks for checking out my post!

58  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Party Planning / Long distance baby shower? on: September 11, 2005 10:46:29 AM
ok, so I'm a long time lurker, first time poster and I'm not even sure if anyone has ever even done this before....

Has anyone ever given a long distance baby shower?  any shower or party of any kind?  My soon-to-be sister-in-law is due in January with their first baby.  Unfortunately, they are in Germany and we are in the states.  They have been together for over 10 years and we couldn't be happier for them.  I really want to do something special for her, but all I can think of is just boxing up all of my gifts for them.  Pretty boring.

I know you all come up with the kitschy-est of suggestions and this is the best place I can get some good ideas!!

Please help a desperate Auntie-to-be!
