21  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Hot Pink Patchwork Twirler on: October 17, 2007 02:04:57 PM
I have been so inspired by all of you ladies on here and I just have to share what I made for my daughter based on Vegbee's tut

Of course when I took the pics, I hadn't finished it, the bottom isn't hemmed...

Electronics work as bribery at our house Smiley

I lined the top with the large floral print, which I was happy with, but I mis-measured (I can't imagine why with a wiggle worm for a model??) so I made pleats on the front

And she had to "pose" of course

She loves twirling in it, so much that it was hard to get pics Smiley  Thanks for all the inspiration and for inspiring me to save up for a better sewing machine (hoping Santa might bring me one this year!)

Thanks for looking

This is such a beautiful idea!
I tried to get my family to do something similar after my daughter was born  AFTER was a problem, at the shower would have been good but without there being an actual "event" that they got to attend after the fact, it was difficult to get responses.

It would be a cool way to archive lot of different life events!  I LOVE IT!

You should definately scan/take pictures of all the tiles if you can, I'd be paranoid that something would happen to them!  That's prolly just me tho!  It will be something that will mean even more over time  Grin

Congrats and thanks for sharing!!

Your pics look good to me!

She looks so sweet and innocent Smiley

You did a great job!  I like the embroidery that is on it.  Was that part of the shirt or did you add it?  I'm working on one of these too, I'll be sure to post.

A good measurement to start at for a standard Hershey bar is 5.5" x 6" (putting your words parrallel to the 5.5" side).  I really like mini's too 1.5" x 2.75".
You'll have to just play around with it and adjust after you try it out.  I made mine in word, using a text box and then inserting the graphic I had made b/c I could specify a size for the text box and know it would be what would print

There are lots of people in the candy bar biz.  I ordered my craftrobo from a candy wrapper site, foilman.com  They sell precut foil wrappers and other little goodies and their cs is pretty good.

HTH and congrats!!

What a lovely little mini album.  Is that envelope and backing something you made or was it store bought?  You certainly got a lot of pages to go in there!  I love to spend the weekend scrapbooking with my girls, definately need to make a momento like this next time we do.

And maybe it's late, maybe my brain is in "immature high-school health class type" snickering mode, but I just can't stop giggling at the "in Intercouse" page!  I know it's horrible, but when you scroll you don't see the "Out sight seeing" part first and... well I'm not going to say about the picture!  I'm guessing that was the name of the town?

It is very lovely, I'm just so silly tonight.  I don't want to take away from the book, but it's just too funny!  I know my girlfriends would never let me live it down!

Here's to a great time in Intercouse Smiley
26  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Susse sacs (aka sube sacs, Se Sacs, Sweet Sacs) :) on: June 19, 2007 07:02:07 PM
I saw Dyabolica's great tut on these Se Sacs and fell in love.
***ETA*** here is a link to her original post, whoops! http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=165507.0

Being lazy, like I am, I did not make the patchwork, but they are just about as cute, if I do say so myself.

All in all, each only took about 1 hour to make (probably would've been less but my 3 year old monkey, I mean child, was running about and sitting on my lap most of the time!)

This one is made from some leftover large napkins I had found on clearance last year.  I love the fruit!

This one I gave to a friend who just just found out she got her first job teaching after finishing college!  Yeah for teachers Smiley

Button detail (I made it myself, is it wrong to be so in love with button making?!?! If it is, then I don't wanna be right!)

Another lovely

And my favorite (which of couse was the most difficult b/c the vinyl kept sticking when I was trying to topstitch)

Two girls my mom works with have requested I make them one each and some of the teachers from my friend's new school are thinking about ordering as well!  They are so awesomely easy and people really think they are cute!  I've been doing my happy dance since I started making them Smiley
27  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Scrapbooking: Completed Projects / Daddy Wordbloom or Word Bloom on: June 19, 2007 06:51:13 PM
I have seen these posted on several scrapbooking sites and got inspired for father's day.

I of course, did not finish it until today, but he loved it anyhow Smiley
I used my craftrobo to cut it out and am pretty happy with the results.

28  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Baby Showers And Gifts For New Babies / Re: Diaper Wipes Case on: May 09, 2007 10:18:44 PM
Does anyone know where to get empty cases?

I also buy mine at www.DollarDays.com.  I have a wholesale account & buy them by the case.

This looks like a neat source, but I can't seem to find the diaper cases here?  anyone have tips for searching? or are they gone?

TIA

Ok girls, this is so awesome!  I really feel like this is going to be a great resource.  :::happy dancing:::

I haven't been here much lately, but I have some topics to bring to the table.  So do any of you do the business with your sig other?  My husband and I are trying to combine things (I do purses, scrapbooking embellishments and just a general hodgepodge of things and he is getting into t-shirts, totes, and things to heat press) and if you do work together how well does that go?? LOL

I'm also wondering how much "business" do you do with all of this?  Do you have business insurance?  A business plan?  Are you registered with your state?  How do you handle accounting and taxes?

I visited a small business development counselor at the local university and was pretty overwhelmed by all these issues that he brought up and was wondering if I'm over thinking things right now.  It feels that way, 'cuz right now it's not like we are even making a profit!

Now I must get my insomniac self to try to go to bed and sleep!!  Tongue

I'd really love to keep up with this thread!  You girls all sound just like how I feel.  I would really love to bring a little extra money in.  I'm a sahm with a 3 year old and I love to do so many crafty things that it's hard to know what would be most profitable to focus on.

It's insanely late, but I just had to say that I am sooooooo glad I found this  Grin
