so I have two questions.
1
- It turns out I will not be wearing my mothers wedding dress (not a surprize, because its made for a pregnancy). BUT. My mom always thought I would reconstruct a dress out of it. But the thing is, I found the perfect dress on ebay for only $80. (and bought it of course). so I need ideas of what I can do with it to incorporate it into my wedding somehow. my parents have a wonderful marriage and I think it will be good luck.
the top is some itchy polyester stuff, but tacked onto it is a pretty lacy ornamentation - which I am thinking of adding into a veil/hairpiece somehow. or, as a garter.
(is that tacky? my moms dress as a garter?)
but there is so much fabric from the skirt - any ideas?
(other than bows, I hate bows).
2
- I want to use the remainder to make something for my mom - a keepsake, since I have permission to cut up her dress, I think she should keep some of it. all I can come up with is xmas ornaments - she is not a big scrapbooky person or I would have done something like that.
any ideas are appreciated.
My sister and I had lace from my mother's wedding gown in our bouquets. A garter would be nice. You could also make hankies for you and your mother out of the fabric from the skirt of the dress and trim it in some of the lace.
