This project represents my return to craftster after much too long! The idea was simple. WAS being key. My hair is red and curly. Find a green maxi skirt and long sleeve tee, boom! Done. "Just kidding" say the fates. Nothing was the right color.
SO I did what any normal human would do (yeh right).
I bought some extensions.
I dyed them to match my hair.
They weren't thick enough. I bought more. Dyed more.
Roller set time!!
Set my own hair in pincurls for work, so as to match the texture
And Boom! Hair for days!!
I then made a kirtle. Its a middle ages slip dress basically. It was a staple in female clothing for several hundred years and eventually became an undergarment, kinda like a slip. I used this tutorial
and then created sleeves.
These were made up as I went along. The white fabric doesn't run throughout, and is literally just tubes with elastic and stitched in.
I then made a really quick sporran out of fabric on hand and some embossed felt. This was the best thing ever!! I kept my phone in it all night so it was always available for pictures!!!
I rarely make stuff for myself, and I am really proud of this. Everyone I encountered was way impressed, especially when they learned I made it. The hair..... may be my favorite thing ever. Not a single person realized it was fake until I told them!! Even a old friend was just impressed my hair grew so long!!
I need to wear my extensions more!!
