I have the dritz pliers and use them all the time very successfully.  Well, for snaps.  I don't find it works all the great for eyelets / grommets.  But for snaps, yes.  (Sorry, dyabolica!)  Smiley

16 is not going to be strong enough.  You need either an 18 or a leather needle.

It will also help if you have a rolling foot.  if you don't, try putting a layer of tissue paper inbetween your pressure foot and the vinyl, that way it doesn't stick and possibly stress the needle.

You could make one, follow a messenger bag tutorial and make the dimensions to fit your laptop.

Or you could have one made.  Check etsy for a wide array of choices:

(I have no affiliations to any of these sellers, they just came up on an etsy search for "laptop")  Smiley

The easiest way to figure it out is to closely examine an adjustable strap on a bag you bought.

Otherwise, this is how I do it:

First, make sure you have your d-rings or o-rings already attached to your bag.

Second, sew/attach one end of your webbing to the middle bar of your slide (http://cgi.ebay.com/1-1-4-Metal-Slides-buckles-NICKEL-3-5mm-100pc-BH20Q-NL_W0QQitemZ120088206521QQihZ002QQcategoryZ53235QQtcZphotoQQcmdZViewItem)

Now, thread the other end of the webbing through one of the d-rings / o-rings attached to the bag, and thread it through (and on top of) the slide.

Attache the end of your webbing to your other d-ring / o-ring.

I have been searching for a month for some fabric like the 1st bag! I can't find anything like that anywhere!  Do you know the manufacturer or designer?

That is by Waverly and it's often only available by special order.  Sad  The color (black & white) is called Onyx and I think the pattern is "Essence".   Last summer there were some curtains made by Waverly of this pattern / design, and they were called "Valerie".  Linen 'N Things sold them, if you are extremely lucky you may be able to find some in the curtains clearance section at LNT for $10 or less for a panel.  However, the special order fabric, if you get the "Sun N Shade" type, will be higher quality.

Here are some of the curtains on ebay (unfortunatley they're still very expensive):

Here is a yard of the fabric:

Here is a spa blue color, I have this one as well, it's great for spring:

I love the fabric on the first bag. Could you tell me where you found it? Or what brand it is? Does anyone else know?
Thanks
Nancy

The first fabric is from the 45" decorating section at JoAnn Fabrics.  I think it's manufactured by JoAnn's, so you won't find it anywhere else.

I would use a magnetic snap, but personally, I would open a hole in the bottom of the lining big enough to slide my hand up there to install it.  This way you are sure to not mess with the top seam which you might see from the outside.  That's how I install my magnetic snaps anyway, it's the last thing I do before sewing up my turning hole.
30  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions / Re: What is your favorite length to make your handles.(Fabric handles) on: March 28, 2007 08:49:20 AM
I like my purse to fit nicely under my arm, so I use 22" handles (measured end to end before sewing in, and I use .5" seam allowance, so they would end up 21" finished).  Oh, and this is for purses that have 2 handles, one on each side.  Purses with one handle are all different, depending on how it's attached, the shape of the purse, etc.
