1  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Re: DIY Color Film Developing (extremely pic heavy!) on: January 08, 2009 12:52:51 PM
very cool!  i never expect to see photo-related stuff on craftster, what a nice surprise.

what kind of film did you use?  i shot a roll of 5-6 years expired kodak 400 and it came out all grainy and 70s-looking.

and hey i just checked out your blog, i love your yarn and photos and everything!

aww, your bag is so much better than those dumb "i'm not a plastic bag" bags.

yeah i'd much rather have it long than short... i hate short shirts so much.

as long as it doesn't stetch out too much, it'll be fine.  i was also afraid of it being too wide in the body so i added some waist shaping... i totally don't know what i'm doing though, so i'm just going to have faith that it will be fine.

i'm using color 203- teal.  but i feel like i have to say, i didn't intend for it to look so close to the one in the pattern- it's just what they had the most of at the yarn store.  if i had been patient enough, i would have gotten grey or black or something... but i like the one i'm using anyway.

anyone happen to be using debbie bliss cashmerino?  that's what i'm using (and i'm about 70% done, yay) but i wonder how it is to block.  i'm reading about all this stretching with blocking, but most of you guys are using knitpicks.  i made the body an inch longer than it said in the pattern, because i'm using another shirt as a reference, and because 12" from armpit to end just is not long enough.  so i hope i haven't messed it up by doing this.

often helps people identify items of clothing

thanks haha i'm making myself a lj right now so i can post and ask.

i tried looking through my Ws this weekend but no luck.  i'd have to spend hours.

but thanks for the help everyone, i appreciate it a lot because i honestly didn't expect any replies to this.

that's adorable!!  although i must admit, when i read the title of this post i imagined an adult backpack that looked like a toddler... if that makes any sense.  anyway, extremely cute idea.

i'm pretty sure its from early 2005 or december 2004, and on the same page i'd put one of those prada ads with the feather hats, if you remember that... the same ad had those cool square-face watches and the airplane and sailboat pins that looked like felt... so it's likely from around that same time.

i have all my issues back at my parents' house, but i was hoping to avoid going through them, especially since i might have taken the entire page out of the magazine.  i'll probably do it this weekend though.

i figured this would be the best place to put this post, but if it isn't by all means let me know...

i think i'm going to sew this dress for my sister to wear to her senior ball.  i don't anticipate too much trouble doing it, but i feel bad recreating it and not knowing who i'm ripping off.  all i have is this picture that i took out of W magazine a few years ago to put in my 'inspiration book' (or whatever you want to call it).  i'm not even sure if its an ad or part of the editorial.

so i figured maybe someone here might recognize it... here's the picture:

thanks for anything anyone can come up with!

i swatched and cast on!  the swatch is 60% wrong because i was reading the pattern for in the round instead of back and forth, but you can see where i realized this and switched over.  i made perfect guage anyway.

here's the swatch:

and my baby sweater:

i got the color as close to real life as possible.

i got my yarn and needles today, finally.  its debbie bliss baby cashmerino in this really pretty blue...  i'll post pictures once i get going.  i had to get size 3 needles instead of 2.5 but i figure i can make it work.

i'm so excited, this is my first sweater and i can't wait to start.  and the yarn is so pretty... yay
