Two things...

I don't think the karma would be applied to "good" swappers. It would mainly take over the "bad swappers list" and those swappers who flake out would have their karma go down a point.

Also, it could either be shown on the profile page or everytime you post right under your name. When the other mods were discussing this we thought it was best to have it in the profile, so you can't see it unless you want to!

my other thing to add is this: i don't think it's fair for the organizer to have to make an extra package just in case. this is an extra burden of time and money for a person who is already devoting a lot of time to logistics. i understand that it is a way of protecting a participant from getting burned, and i think that's very nice, but i don't like that the organizer has to worry about this too. however, i really can't think of a better solution. 

Its not actually a rule that an organizer HAS to do this. And I'm not sure if many organizers make one a head of time. I think that in cases where they CHOOSE to mail out a little something for a swapper who didn't recieve anything, its made after the fact. Like I said before, they don't have to make anything, and sometimes other people offer to make something!

Oh definately. I believe that we would state clearly that Karma only has to do with the final outcome of the package, did it arrive? It has nothing to do with the contents. It would basically take the place of the bad swappers list because this would be a LOT easier to update.

Thanks for bringing this up. I believe that if you take on the role to organize a swap, you must be prepared to keep track of everything that comes with it! The swapping guide has documents and rules to follow, and its best to fill out and keep track of everthing. It is half your responsibility to make sure that you get a DCN or a confirmation that the package has been recieved (the other half is for the person to send it!) As an organizer, you should be making sure everything is recieved and sent! And then send any bad swappers information to a mod or Leah (admin). xmelida is right, there is only so much you can do, and its most important that the swappers do their part so everything runs smoothly.s

Its also not a responsibility to send out "extras" although, its definately kind of you to do that! If you can't send something out, its always nice to ask other participants if someone wanted to send something out to a person who didn't get anything. Sometimes people who weren't even in the swap will be so kind to send soemthing since they missed the signup deadline or something.

This is vital for everyone to do! We may introduce something called "karma" which is a feature on this board. From Leah: "Basically every member starts with a Karma of zero and members can bump up or down another member's Karma by one point whenever they feel like the person has done something good or bad.ONLY moderators and swap moderators can change people's Karma.  And when someone flakes out on a swap we could decrease their Karma to -1. This would be a way for swap organizers to quickly check whether someone is a badder swapper or not."

edit - lady love is nice too if you really like it, it sounds good in french too... amour de dame, right?

Keep in mind that allowing people to come in and spend the whole day on your couches is a nice idea, but they aren't regularily buying goods and services from you how will you pay you bills? I remember reading a case in marketing about many stores who offered this to their customers and eventually removed their comfy seating since their sales were down!
