21  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Improving my skills! on: December 21, 2006 02:34:04 PM
I just wanted to say, I knitted about 5 small gifts in the last week, and I'm amazed at how much better my knitting is going!  It was pretty repetitive stuff (stockinette booties, garter stitch scarves), and I think all the practice really shows in my tension and speed now.  Knitting used to make me really tense, now I can't seem to get enough of it! Smiley

I just wanted to share, because if I knew how much it would help, I would have done this a long time ago.
22  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Cabled baby hat on: December 12, 2006 08:43:30 PM
I'm on a stashbusting roll!

Made from this pattern, with a bit of leftover Simply Soft.  I'm a slow knitter, but it only took me two days!
23  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Black and raspberry ripple scarf on: December 07, 2006 07:17:35 PM

For my sixteen-year-old cousin, I hope she likes it!  It's made of Simply Soft from my stash.
24  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Hooray for Xmas stashbusting! X-stitch on: November 25, 2006 03:17:49 PM

I started this for Christmas last year, but couldn't finish in time - it looked like a quick and easy pattern, but darned if those snowflakes didn't take half an hour apiece!  It's completely made of supplies from my stash (green fabric, white and metallic gold floss), even the frame!  So now it's done and going to my very nice great-aunt. Smiley
25  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / 2 mittens that almost match... on: November 24, 2006 07:47:47 PM

They're knit in Lion Brand Homespun from my stash.  The first mitten came out much looser than the second, but I think they're close enough!  They're for my cousin's 6-year-old for Christmas.
26  CROCHET / Projects from The Happy Hooker by Debbie Stoller / Mini One Skein Scarf on: November 24, 2006 07:45:32 PM
In Lion Brand Homespun from my stash, made with a P hook (it worked up so fast!)  It's slightly altered - it's just impossible for me to do a starting chain in Homespun and then figure out where the stitches are, so I think I double-chained it, then did 2 rows of dc, then added the edging.  It's for my cousin's 4-year-old, so it's only about 42 inches.  Hooray for small people - their projects are quick and easy! Smiley

27  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Can anyone identify this craft tool? on: October 26, 2006 04:40:59 PM
I'm sorry, I don't know where my dang camera is!  It's metal, 10-11 inches long and about as thick as a wire hanger.  It has a 1-inch ring at one end, and a tiny latch hook at the other.  It's too small to make rugs, I can't figure out what the heck it's for!  Any ideas?
28  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Wedding gift - x-stitch in a double picture frame on: July 05, 2006 07:12:10 PM
Nothing fancy, just adapted a pattern I already had:

They can put a wedding photo on the left side.
29  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Half knit, half crochet poncho on: July 05, 2006 07:08:19 PM
From last fall's Family Circle Easy crochet:

I apparently crochet waaaaay too tightly - I had to buy an extra ball of yarn (Paton's Divine) to finish, and it's not as drapey as the one in the magazine, but I like it anyway!
30  CROCHET / Projects from The Happy Hooker by Debbie Stoller / Fat Bottom Bag - white w/ bamboo handles on: April 27, 2006 12:22:39 PM
It looks a little odd because the handles are 7 inches.  I increased the number of stitches and rows, but not enough.  I still love it, though!  It's made out of plain old Red Heart Super Saver, because I'm taking it to Vegas and wanted it to be a) stiff enough not to need lining, and b) washable if I set it on something Smiley

Here's a pic with the shoes I made it to match:

The snap i added to the inside:
